Golden Firefly by Wander Beyond Brewing. Unbelievable. This brewery are doing some of the finest Stouts at the moment imo.

    Where'd you get that Amundsen?

Had one last night... enjoyed it. Really nice biscuity taste off it.

Canvas - Milk Stout v1.2. A grand session style milk stout.

Wander Beyond Brewing - Split Banana Split. Heavy and dark double IPA. Slight banana taste.

The River Brew Co - Big Trouble Al Owa - gets great reviews but I thought it was just ok. A nice maple taste from it.

Evil Twin Brewing - ET Stayed Home 14 - Up there with the best I’ve ever tasted. Basically an alcoholic smoothie so won’t be to everyone’s taste. Officially it’s a Fruited Sour but it’s light on the sour and heavy on the fruit. Immense.

Laguinitas- Willettizzed Coffee Stout. Very good barrel aged strong stout. I’ve had enough barrel aged stouts over lockdown and I’m kind of sick of them but enjoyed this and it’s good.

Wander Beyond - Golden Firefly - A nice pastry stout with a strong biscuity taste. Good.

Arpus - Peach and BlackBerry Sour - Decent without being spectacular.

It'll definitely be to mine. Where'd you get it?

@bobbysands, I'm not taking the piss here or trying to be smart; I am genuinely curious about this.
Do you also like beer that just tastes of grains, hops and yeast or is it just contemporary flavoured beers that appeal to you?
Your posts here read like a dessert menus!

It’s insanely good, I’ve had three of their Stay at Home range and all immense. I got them all here - https://beerrepublic.eu/ - but I note it’s sold out.

https://beerrepublic.eu/search?page=2&q=Evil+twin&type=product is the link for their Evil Twin stuff.

    Don’t mind answering at all.

I love strong flavours so I’m automatically drawn to stout/porter. I basically want to try as many different stouts as I can and I’m running out of all the more normal ones so it’s onto the stranger ones now I suppose.

6 months ago I would have been all about barrel aged stouts but I’ve really had my fill of them. Now, and you’re right, it’s a lot of pastry stouts I’ve been drinking probably mostly because there is a lot of limited edition stouts out there with these flavours so I just want to try them and see what they are like.

Just checking my favourite beers on Untappd and Astral Grains and Guinness itself are near the top but apart from that there is a definite lean towards sweet stouts/sours/Weisse etc... which is set to continue as I have a load more in the fridge to work my way through!

So yeah, I do like the more regular tasting beers a lot as well but the weird ones intrigue me to the point where I have to buy them too.

Founders mas agave, an imperial gose. Exceptional quality, I don't ordinarily drink sours but the strength and balance of this beer makes it very easy to drink. First had on tap just over a year ago in LA, a bottle last week and another this week, one of my favourites this.

I actually hated this beer...one of the few I just had to say no, and dump about a 1/3 of the bottle.
I'd be quite a fan of sours myself... but this one just didn't appeal at all.... One man's meat and all that I guess

I haven't liked any Founders "sour" I've had either.

I've been perving on that site for weeks and just never bothered to get an order in. Decided to take the plunge on a few insanely expensive lambics and sours that I'll never get anywhere ever again. Then along came the €20 delivery. So back to square one.

That site has a very loose idea of what "Lambic" means.
    What next, American Bordeaux ?
    Champagne?

Now, I know it's a site specialising in US beers, but it's an EU site - they should know better. I'm surprised the Lambic folk haven't gone after them!!

That it does. Some of the categorisation leaves a lot to be desired.

    They offer a discount for orders that are being shipped. I think it’s 4% over €50, 6% over €100, 8% over €150 up to 15% over €500!

    Not sure if that helps.

Some of their beers that you can get here can be cheaper there as well. For instance their price on the KBS is €7.29 whereas it’s €9.50 in craft central... so there’s a saving of €2.21 there, couple that with the relevant % discount stated above for shipping and that might assist you in doing the same arithmetic gymnastics that I sometimes do in convincing myself to place a small order.

I opened an O Haras nitro last night too and there was zero surge, zero head. I didn't even drink it tbh. If i had the almighty surger unit i would have popped it on to give it a lift, but alas.

An electric toothbrush will do the trick (seriously)

The Dublin Airport cap is damaging the economy of Ireland as a whole, and must be scrapped forthwith.

Bit off topic but Mr Price have dimpled pint beer mugs for E1.50. Enjoying a crafty brewing IPA from my new one.

I’m looking for some decent beer glasses is anyone has any suggestions as to where to buy some.

I picked up stemless glasses in Dunnes back in Oct, and I like them for smaller cans. Dunnes also had stemmed beer glasses, I only have one and it's ok.

Then I have misc glasses from different brewers (Kinnegar, Whiplash). I have a snifter one from Nebraska Brewing Company (wife is from NE, USA) and I love the tulip shape. Also a teku from O Brother. And some Trappist one from Christmas gift sets.

Porterhouse Chocolate Truffle Stout. Been a couple years since I has this. Slightly more bitter than I remember but still lovely.

Tried to get some in Molloy's today but it had all gone. However the guy working there said it was the worst stout he'd ever tasted, that it reminded him of dirty water. Horses for courses, I suppose.

If it was the older guy who works there, definitely, but I don't know this guy so well so I would have bought some anyway if they'd had it.

I reckon it's a grand sup. Get it anyway. Calling it 'dirty water' is just silly.

Likewise, I've always found porterhouse stouts to be quite watery.
Actually, I've not been fond of their ales either.

Watery compared to Diageo or Heineken's stout?
