Had a Lagunitas 12th of never which ruined the second can from North co, 6.9% West coast IPA. Lovely colour to the Lagunitas one too, delicious.

    Looking forward to trying this

Did you get it in Ireland? I haven't seen it anywhere here yet.

    Nope.

Thought the Cloudwater Vic Secret Wai-Iti was really good. Still not worth the price though. DIPA was unremarkable and haven't tried the session IPA yet.
Rollover session on tap was amazing. Best Irish beer I've had in the last year.

Crooked Stave Motiff, what a beer. Big Belgian Quad, very sour in the finish.

Dunno, I got a deal on a mixed case of four or five different Crooked Stave from a guy I know who knows a guy, the total cost of the case was €65 for 12 bottles.

So an average of €5.40 per 375ml

Worth it though, they are amazing beers.

Speaking of cheap it's €4.25 for a 330ml of Black Boar in brewdock

Anybody tried the new otterbank brett beers, or any of their stuff, worth getting?

  • Registered Users Posts: 26,578 ✭✭✭✭Creamy Goodness

yes! Otterbank haven't released many beers and in fact I've only had farami but I'll certainly be buying every beer they release. I must swing by the Blackrock Cellar tomorrow hope they have them in stock.

Haven't had any of the new set, but have tried earlier versions. The pale ones have particularly good so far.

    Brewdogs pope imperial porter.

Expensive but worth a try. Very deep taste but overpowering with the coconut.
Settles to give a lovely aftertaste.
    Abit of marmite love/hate.

Also gave eight degrees wayfarer sour ipa a go.

Very balanced for a sour, compared to their last effort, no way gose. Almost entirely citrus notes before the sour kicks in. Would compare the sour taste to a dry cider.
Could go well with a sweet dessert.

A top notch pint of jaipur on cask.

Got a Christmas present of a €30 bottle of stout.
    C134749E-FD27-4444-ABA6-BB5041B74112_zps6hvl7g2y.jpg

It's American and came in a pint bottle. Finally opened it yesterday to share with a mate.

The thickest stout ever and, as described on the label, a definite taste of berries underneath. 9% vol.

Luckily there was two of us cos just about managed half.

    t.

I thought this tasted like a pint bottle of Guinness with a shot of Malibu thrown in.

    Pretty awful, I thought.
If it was made by anyone else, I'd have given it a miss but Brewdog usually pull off this kinda stuff well.
    Not this time.

Had this myself yesterday in the Beer Market and it was gorgeous. First version of it I've tried too, they seem pretty hard to pick up. Also tried To ol triple trouble and was delicious.

On a side note has anyone had any off flavored pints in Cassidy's lately? Happened to me a few times but twice last night and really considering stopping going. Best way to describe it is a gone off meat taste. A few weeks ago we got 2 pints together of Weihenstephaner, one was perfect other had this taste, both poured at the same time. Said it to the bar tender and he changed it, replacement was perfect. Was in last night and got a Weihenstephaner and it had this taste again. Got a left hand milk stout and it also had this taste, couldn't drink it, it even smelled funny. Could it be the way they're washing the glasses or a problem with their lines?

Last week I had White Hag Black Boar imperial stout, the barrel-aged version, 10.5%

On draught in the Swagman, Sligo.

I'm told the only other place it was available was Alltech.

Very nice. Now I don't have a sophisticated palate, so I'm not very good at describing food/drinks, but I called it luscious.

    3/4 pint serve, price = 6.00.

I also had a pint of Apple Sour, made by White Hag.
