Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

An unusual requirement - discretion!

We're moving offices and need a coffee machine that produces good coffee but is discrete. My preference is for brewed coffee but I don't think there's a decent option there given the need for discretion.

We have no sink in the office but have water available to us. I was thinking of a capsule type machine but I have found the coffee coming out of them not hot enough. I also don't really like all the waste they produce and I'm sure the coffee isn't fresh. All that said I think it'll be what we end up going with unless.....

    Anything else I'm not considering?

Hi Khannie! I use an Aeropress for at home. They are relatively discrete and use ground coffee. The coffee tastes lovely out of it, and it can be thrown in a cupboard/ drawer/ corner when not in use.

I tend to buy coffee off a microbrewery called Cloud Picker, who also sell the Aeropress. Links below!

    All the best!

Edit: However you may need a sink for cleaning!

Thanks for the reply!I did consider an aeropress but given there's no sink I wouldn't know what to do with the grounds. :( Mr Magnolia gave me a lend of one a long, long time ago and I can't remember if they empty out easily.

Edit: I just see your edit :) I got a notification mail and read that before you'd edited

Anyone have experience with either of these "one cup" filter machines?

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Breville-Coffee-Express-Personal-Machine/dp/B00LW78IOK/

I'm thinking I could use them with a paper filter to remove the need for washing the mesh filter.

With the Aeropress there's very little waste. If you compress the puck at the end a little it fires into the bin almost moisture-free with the filter. It's probably the cleanest method I know - it would be clean enough after that you could give it a wash later.

We have one of these in the office for 3 months, its great!

    https://www.nespresso.com/pro/uk/en/product/gemini-nespresso-machine-with-cs20

There are 40 of us in the office but they do a smaller machine too.

And the capsules are collected and recycled in Ireland so no CSR issues at all (very important for us). This was the main reason we went with it as there is too much waste with roast and grind.

If I was in your situation I'd still brew filter - but into a thermal jug rather than a carafe. These machines don't need to be plumbed and don't need a sink. You just need a bin to recycle the grounds in for composting. Significantly less waste than with any of the capsule machines, neat and relatively discrete and of course you can still buy freshly roasted coffee from your local coffee shop. A couple of examples:

Looks like you'll end up with nespresso - but go for the commercial machines.

    1 - its hotter

    2 - Its provided free

3 - the capsules are different to the home machines, so "bringing a few capsules home" won't be an issue

    4 - free trial
