Hi all, we're looking for a child minder to come to our house to mind our 2 year old and 7 month old while the two of us are working.

Probably 9am to 5pm 5 days a week - sometimes less than that.

    Area is around Dun Laoghaire.

What would people think would be a fair rate. Hourly or daily?

    Thanks in advance.

(I searched for similar threads but couldn't find anything recent)

It is more a nanny that you are looking for.
If she goes to your home then you are her employer and employment law comes in to play, you need to pay her at least minimum wage and her employers PRSI.
10-12 euro an hour would be the norm.

In a childminders house they are self employed and can earn 15k tax exempt and pay a set amount of PRSI.

That's great Moonbeam. In order to pay the nanny PRSI do I need to set up a company or set something up through Revenue? Would we need payroll software like Sage? Wondering what other people have done for this. I imagine to be an employer we'd have to set up a company?

Nope you need to set up a company .
You do need to register with revenue .
A quick Google should tell you how .
