    Hey guys, problem here.
I've moved into a new residence and I have to rely on Wifi for internet access. There is no chance of me using an ethernet cable to connect directly to the modem.
The problem is that both my PS3/PS4 cannot maintain a solid connection to wifi, but my laptop can. My laptop is running Linux Mint 18 Cinnamon x64. I have tried the following
    1) Connecting console and laptop to Netgear GS108 (unmanaged 8port gigabit switch) using CAT5E. This works for my desktop PC, my desktop gets Internet access just fine, but not my consoles.
    2) Connecting console to laptop directly with CAT5E and setting ethernet port of laptop to "Shared to other computers ".
    3) Connecting console to laptop with crossover ethernet cable.

When I try to set up, console side, automatically, it fails at the "Obtain IP address" part. I could try going Manual, but I don't know what to put in there.
I do have a couple left over modems from previous ISPs but I have no idea of how to configure them in their GUI.

You need to run a DHCP server on the Mint laptop or manually setup IP addressing on the consoles. Its quite straightforward, just use ifconfig to check the laptops details and make it the DG for the consoles.
