We are going to Vegas soon and we are trying to sort out outfits. Does casinos/hotel/bars have a strict dress code at night. My boyfriend and I don't know if we can wear shorts at night or is more dresses and formal trousers/shirts? I know there is great air-conditioning in places but we don't want to be boiling walking the strip at night either?

    Thanks

If you plan on going to nite clubs you need to dress up. Haven't done shows or formal dining there so can't tell about them. If just hitting the casino's then anything goes.

Del has the right of it. In the casino's you'll see everything from girls in Bikini tops to guys in full Tux's. The bars and restaurants where they have a cover charge will have a dress code, pants, shoes and a shirt and you'll be laughing.

Dress up for nightclubs. Your bf should wear a shirt and shoes, no flip flops, for the more expensive restaurants but apart from that anything goes for bars, casinos and shows. Most people dress pretty casual, even at night. You'll end up doing a lot of walking so comfortable shoes are a must, heels are a recipe for disaster unless you'll be getting ubers or cabs everywhere but maybe that's just me!

Pretty casual unless you are planning on heading to nightclubs, expensive restaurants etc.

Tee's and "sneakers" are possible, once they aren't sports wear.

I've been to Hakkasan and a few other spots, while not dressed smart/formal.

If you're in any doubt, just bring dress shoes and a nice shirt, you'll be okay, just don't rock up in a Mckenzie tee shirt and walking runners.

I wore chinos and polo t-shirt and no one blinked an eyelid and won 300 dollars in 10 spins

I haven't been to Vegas, but the Casino wear in Atlantic City looks like people raided the Goodfellas wardrobe.

The high end restaurants and big name niteclubs require decent attire, bacially no flip flops, construction boots, hawaii shirts or string vests, anywhere else all is welcome once you have cash in your pocket.

I lived there for years. Anything is okay. The casino's will take your money, dressed in anything. Maybe not street person or a bum! Nightclubs a little more dressy but a little black dress and a men's blazer and chinos work almost everywhere. Craps is your best chance, learn about it. Roulette, unknown games, like chi go, slots are for suckers. That is why there are so many right in front! Bigger and louder are no good. You will have a blast. Dont PLAN on winning, sorry. But you never know.

    Don't forget Blackjack.

To get regular "free booze" you have to tip the severs nearly as much as you pay, give small tips and you'll be spitting feathers.

Thanks for the reply. What would you think about bars? Are they as strict as nightclubs?

Haven't been to many bars in Vegas. The few I did go to were OK with shorts t shirts. Good thing about the US is that they have everything from dive bars to posh bars so you're bound to find somewhere to let you in no matter how you dress.
