Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hey,

I'm wondering what will it cost to have a male kitten neutered in Dublin area. Being looking around the web, but couldn't find anything that is recent.

in dublin??? brr...probably somewhere around 80-120 quid. Google low cost neutering, it's spay aware week so you might catch a deal.

I was quoted €200 for my 33kg German Shepherd so I would reckon a kitten would be a lot less! I believe the price is largely based on how much anaesthetic needs to be used. The bigger the animal, the more they need to use and the higher the cost.

agreed. unfortunately Dublin is just very very expensive. I pay 55 but I don't live in dublin...

I'm not in Dublin but when I enquired I was told it was €50 for a female kitten and €60 for a male kitten (I think). Ring some nearby practices and they can tell you for sure.

If you're near Bantry there's a vet doing it for a fiver!

The actual surgical part of neutering takes the vet five to ten minutes if they are slow, unless something is wrong (such as an undescended testicle). I took my kitten in, dropped him off, went to the car and made a phone call, went back in because I'd forgotten something in the waiting area, and the vet was already done. I think I paid 40 for that one but there were a few special considerations; the procedure was a pediatric neuter (the kitten was about ten weeks), so the vet would have needed to keep the kitten's temperature stable and to be a little more careful with anesthesia. But it was out here in the country so that would have offset some of the potential price increase.

I run a cat sanctuary, and my vet does the ops for spay/neuter at my home. Neutering a male cat , all going well, doesn't take more than 15 minutes for the whole physical op. However, there is the after care( cat needs to be turned every 30 minutes during the time he recovers from Anesthesia, it takes a while for the cat to fall asleep beforehand, as they are usually sedated before being put under. All in all the whole process from a-z takes about 3 hours, and it's that time you pay for. Depending the area you're in, it can be more or less expensive.

Not sure about down south but in the North there's a subsidised scheme to get cats spayed and neutered for a fiver if you're on benefits, a student or pensioner, via Cats Protection. If you know someone in the north who qualifies it's very easy to get it done.

Its a couple of years ago now but mine was done for €75 in Dublin and that included a microchip. Keep your eye on facebook for various animal charities, they run low cost neutering for males pretty frequently.

seems very expensive, anything over 100 euros is too much IMHO
