School activity / invoicing

    Hi all,

    If a school runs a summer camp and students sign up and pay separately for the camp, can some coaches/teachers that own their own businesses be paid as a business to carry out the coaching/classes at the camp, rather than being treated as employees of the school? They would do all the tasks around the camp from accepting payment, organising programs, liaising with parents/students as well as timetabling of coaches and all coaching etc...

    Can it remain a school activity (similar to a cooking module in TY or a school trip to Carlingford Centre etc... that would be invoiced), so it is not a private enterprise running a private camp, but a business is paid to carry it out for the school as a school camp?

    I can see information on the revenue site http://www.revenue.ie/en/business/paye/guide/employers-guide-paye-intro.html#section5 and it seems that it would be fine, but just looking for information on it if anyone had any comment that would be great,

    Most schools are private enterprises anyway! So in my ignorant opinion they can do what they like and hire who they like.
    Are you asking if those facilitators are 'employees' of the school?
