Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm looking to buy a 2005/2006 Golf at the moment. Any tips out there regarding this car? I.e. common things that tend to go wrong with this car, things to look out for etc.

Looking for a 1.4 Petrol. How much would you pay yourself for one by private sale?

the 2005 is going to be 12yrs old in a few months time, wiht that in mind i wouldnt be payng a lot for one, also in another couple of years and it will be almost uninsurablew too due to age, there thirsty and underpowered as well, beter off going for the 1.6 or a TDI

The 1.4 petrol is way too underpowered, either get the 1.6 or buy a Corolla or similar.

First time insurer? Because you'll get bent over on a Golf as a first time insurer...

No, i'm already insured. Surprisingly the 1.4 Petrol Golf is cheap to insure. The TDI and 1.6 are costlier.

1.4 Golfs of that vintage are slow, thirsty, and not too reliable.
