    We thinking about it  but can`t find the info I want
    We have two meters one normal one and one for storage heaters
    We talked about it with friends and they told me in our situation it was not possible
    looked around on your site but can`t find any info about it
    Can u explain a bit more about it

    Thanks for your message.

    To confirm, do you have one meter that completes two functions, or two separate meters?

    In properties where there is storage heating, there may be a NightSaver meter (which measures usage for both day and night) or a standard 24 hour meter and a Night Storage Heater meter (which only measures the storage heating).

    A Pay As You Go meter can only be installed where there is one meter. Therefore, if there is a separate meter for the night storage heating, it will not be possible to switch to Pay As You Go.

    If you have one meter only in your property, then you may be able to avail of a Pay As You Go meter with Electric Ireland. More information would be available online here, or over the phone with a member of our Pay As You Go team. They can be contacted on 1850 372 372, from 8am to 8pm, Monday to Saturday.

    Hi crossmolinalad,

    You are very welcome.

    At the moment, it would not be possible to switch to Pay As You Go.

    Do you still use the storage heaters? If not, you may wish to get the night storage heater meter removed. Otherwise, you could change to a NightSaver meter instead. In both cases, it will cost €194.09, to be paid upfront as the night storage heater meter would need to be removed before the meters could be exchanged.

    Here are the unit prices and standing charges that currently to regular 24 hour meters and here are the rates that apply to NightSaver meters. The standing charge for NightSaver meter would be higher than the charge for a night storage heater meter, but everything used during the night-time hours would be at the lower rate you currently pay for the night storage heater meter only.

    We are unable to arrange any appointments here on Boards.ie, but our colleagues on 1850 372 372 would be able to assist you. They are available from 8am to 8pm (Monday to Saturday).
