Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Rooney has gone to shíte.

He'll probably score now, but still. It's kinda sad to see him so far off the pace.

It really amazes me he's still gets into the 1st team.

How many goals does Rooney need to get the club record of goals scored 5 or 6?

I'd say as soon as he gets them he will be shown the door in the next transfer window after he breaks it.

He shouldn't be getting involved so deep. His best seasons were always playing off the last defender and using his movement and finishing ability. He is too lackadaisical when deeper.

Reminded me of Giggs against Arsenal, bobble here , bobble there.

How come no one is picking up on how terrible Zlatans passing has been?

    Because he's Zlatan.

That goal was as good as Rooney's performance has been bad.

The players are just then wrong position to receive the ball.

Rooney doing Simpson for pace makes me question what Simpson was doing all sumer.

Advocates of Rooney in a deeper role always claimed he can ping it around a bit, and is somewhat creative, so he should be a natural at it.

Of course, that ignores the fact that he takes forever to make a pass. A great playmaker receives the ball and already knows what to do with it. Rooney has to take the ball, think about what comes next, and finally pass it. By which point it's way too late, play has slowed down. I think he's an awful midfielder in that role.

The problem is the wages he is on and no one will touch him on less United pay him off.

I hope Jose shows his ruthlessness and drops Rooney a sap. Club legend but he is well past it

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,868 ✭✭✭Andersonisgod

A few years ago at Man Utd the fear was that there was a lack of dynamism up front for the club. Ibra and Rooney combination is not the way to solve that. The Carrick/Fellaini/Rooney axis is far too slow in possession, and the result has been a distinct lack of flowing play. Ultimately you'd assume this is how Mourinho will set up for the season and it is starting to resemble a Mourinho team, for good and for bad.

Martial is playing no? Im not at all convinced that, in possession, Pogba makes this team any faster. We will see how Mourinho uses Mkhitaryan but it certainly wont be in central midfield where the pace issue is greatest.

Fellaini did so well to intercept. Very disappointed with that pass. Jokeworthy.

    SWtream died grrr what happened?

Fellaini made a lovely interception, and then played a weak back-pass straight into the path of Jaime Vardy. Defenders hadn't a hope of stopping him.
