    What is typically in a structural engineers report for a house?

    What is generally in a report, or what I look to be included?

    Will the Joyce's in the roof be check if the facia is damaged.

    Will the area around house checked for knotweed?

    Are you buying a second hand house?

    It will typically be a visual inspection.
    A check will be made on the rafters to see if they are rotten, damaged, (dry/wet rot).

    Signs of dampness.

    no fittings will be removed. No opening up works will be carried out until after you buy it as you legally cannot do this.

    Its a general check on the property, pointing out visual issues that may be a problem.

    For example, if a large crack is noticed, the surveyor will mention it and then after that its up to you or the vendor to get it checked out structurally.

    Typically, it will be a Building Surveyor doing the inspection as the Engineer cannot do anything without opening up various elements of the build.
