Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Sam Allardyce suffered 1 defeat in 11 games at the end of last season with very similar personnel.

Aside from Defoe, Kone and Kirchhoff are excellent players who wouldn't look out of place in too many Premier League teams. There's a spine of CB, CM and striker that any manager at bottom half Premier League level would kill for, while the likes of Borini and Khazri are very effective at that level if utilised correctly.

2 of his Moyes' signings (McNair and Love) were the worst players on the field that day against 'Boro by a considerable distance. I don't want to be too harsh on them, they are kids who should never have been thrown into that situation (and there never should have been a need to) but unfortunately that's the level of signing that Moyes has made.

Moyes has had a terrible summer transfer window (regardless of how Ndong turns out) and his comments after the 'Boro game were an utter embarrassment regardless of what he thought.

Kone wanted to leave and Kirchoff looks ok but I wouldn't say he was excellent.

But I get your point about Allardyce.

West Ham losing 4-0 now. WTF is happening at the club?

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

I can see City going through the entire league season unbeaten. There just on a different level too all the other sides. Loving what's happening at The Hawthornes.

West Ham have had a stinker of a season so far. As are Bournemouth. Both made a flood of signings this summer, for the sake of it in most cases. Still a fair few bad teams in the league. Cling to this Sunderland

Sterling is also looking great this season. Can't believe Pep has them playing like this already.

West Ham 2 Watford 4 The London City Stadium or whatever it's called is going to be the Hammers grave.

West Ham's London Stadium curse is now working on away days! What is going on? WBA did their best to let them back in but not quite enough! :p

Idiotic from Nolito but City staying true to form making life as difficult as possible for themselves.

Where are these goal highlights that were supposed to be on Sky Football's Twitter account for this season? Not seeing them.......

Nice goal from Xhaka, themselves vs Chelsea will be interesting next weekend.

Koeman is a great manager to be fair. Everton will be hoping to cling onto him for as long as possible. Surely destined for bigger things.

Potential for City to run away with the league I think. Very silky side - Nothing wrong with them scraping through with it being the first game of the season.

A few matches on from this and they really look like they're gonna walk the league imo.

Few challenges approaching for them after the Swansea game. They took the United challenge in their stride but that still doesn't make White Hart Lane anything but a tough game for them.

so people are drawn to successful teams, it's not as if droves of Irish people didn't hitch themselves to a scouse bandwagon in the 70s and 80s.

And United and Arsenal in the 90's with a splattering of Blackburn and then Chelsea and now Man City. Now looking like Leicester is getting it

Liverpool top of the running about league though 4 games still to be played this weekend so it's either last weeks chart or a silly chart.

    edit - it's after 4 match days

Definitely better this season than under Martinez although they've had a cupcake start to the season fixture wise. Haven't really played anyone decent yet apart from Spurs at home on the first day of the season.

You lot love your alternative league tables!!

In saying that, there's is a marked difference this season for both merseyside clubs. A lot more intensity, workrate and effort.

A lot less bullsh!t from the managers.

I felt Watford would be in big trouble this season, but then again I also thought the same of Leicester last summer! :pac:

Putting Rooney in the midfield after saying he'll only play him up front has been a bizarre decision by Jose

    Palace v Stoke for me.

Both managers under pressure (especially Pardew with the money spent and they awful run they went on last year), though Pardew got a bit of breathing space with last week's result.

Hughes needs a win here. I think he made the right call dropping Pieters. Going for Stoke. I like them as a team. **** pardew and his ****

Who Will Win The Premier League?
    Manchester City 40 27.40%
    Manchester United 61 41.78%

Which I suppose just illustrates bias of numbers rather than objective analysis

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 40,061 ✭✭✭✭Harry Palmr

Winner: No ****ing idea - seriously I can see flaws in every team so it's going to be close - basically which ever top team can get themselves sorted out quickest will win.
Champions League spots (2nd, 3rd and 4th, in order): See above
Europa League spots (5th, 6th and possibly 7th, in order): See above
    Relegation: Hull, Burnley, Sunderland

    Top Goalscorer: Agüero
    Most Assists: Firmino
Player of the Year: Zlatan of course, in fact the title should read Zlatan of the Year
Young Player of the Year (U-23): Demarai Gray

Best Signing: Ahmed Musa (£17m to Leicester City)
Biggest Flop: Sane (as judged by price)
    Underachieving/Over-Hyped Player: Pogba
    Breakout Player: Divock Origi

    Surprise Team (Good): Middlesboro
    Surprise Team (Bad): Man City
First Managerial Casualty: Walter Mazzarri (Watford)

Audacious Prediction of the Season: Leicester City to finish season outside all European positions.

:D More likely to be Mourinho at this rate!

(okay I got Man City wrong so far....:o)

Given in goal for Stoke. Classic him. He cannot organise his defenders and he's rubbish in the air.

    Stoke falling apart. 2-0 now

Given should be retired a couple of years ago, nevermind playing at PL level. But then Hughes is picking him so he's worse.

Always surprised that Dann didn't get picked up by one of the bigger clubs. Very tidy player, even at Blackburn.

    It's 5 games in!

This time last year Spurs were just outside the relegation spots with 1 win from 5, Stoke had 0 wins from 6 games, City were running away with things after 5 wins from 6 and Palace were about to put together a run that had them in Champions League contention by Christmas.

Yeah he was atrocious in the Spurs game last week too. He's well past his sell by date now. The other Stoke Keepers bar Butland obviously, must be really poor.

People were wondering about Van Aarholt suddenly being replaced before Sunderlands game, turns out his most recent heart scan worried a doctory panel and they were very late passing on their concerns - got the all clear since.

It looks like Guidolin may win the sack race:

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2016/09/21/swansea-target-ryan-giggs-to-replace-dead-man-walking-francesco/

Giggs would be an astonishingly stupid replacement mind.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,690 ✭✭✭✭Skylinehead

Jenkins seems to run Swansea quite well, but I've been impressed with Guidolin so far. Did really well last year after Garry Monk nearly got them relegated, and this season isn't anywhere near advanced enough to consider sacking him. They should have bought a centre half though.

    Ryan Giggs, jaysis

That will be the end of Giggs as a manager
