Hi, I've been asked/pressganged into looking at creating a new website for a family clan site. Sites like the following appear to be the norm and are largely static :

    http://www.clanegan.org/index.html
    http://www.kavanaghfamily.com/index.htm
    http://www.murphyclans.com/
    http://www.crowleyclan.com/
    http://www.fitzgeraldclans.com/

The requirement is create a fresh, bright "dynamic website" with online shop, forum, gallery, event updates and integration with Facebook, Twitter etc

    1. Would Squarespace allow me to achieve this ?

    2. Would there be any templates I could work off ?

    3. How complicated would this be to do ?

    4. Of the sites above, is there anyway of knowing how they were created ? Wordpress etc ..

Yes to most of it, for a forum you could use something like Discourse

Squarespace has some templates available to play around with for website and stores

Squarespace is made to be easy to use, after that use their support or your google skills.
If its first time building a site, it is probably the easiest way to go.

I use a chrome plugin called BuiltWith, they have a website too you can use to find out what tech a website uses. They are a few other sites that do the same thing.

Bearing in mind the requirements above, if one was to get an experienced person to

    a) construct a website using Squarespace/Discourse etc

    b) some other option

Would there be a ball park figure as to what it could cost ? PM me if you prefer.

    Thanks

Sorry if I'm coming across all noddy about this, but my background is programming in midrange systems.
