Agreee totally ...Thre are lots of competitors today who dont have a chance of a medal but a competeing otherwise very small field

and he is better than alot out there .....He is national champion and beat Mullen by over a minute so not that bad. Came 13th in Worlds in 2013

Also climbs nor descents are the problem for him...its technique that usually is his problem

Yeah, he just isn't a time triallist. In fact, the hillier the course the better for him, as then it becomes more about climbing / descending and less about time trialling.

Even though there are a couple of climbs on this course, it is actually more of a time triallists' course. Only about 6km of climbing, similar amount of descending and over 40km of flat roads.

Fecking hipsters, is there anything they haven't infiltrated?!

Shure they were spawned from the cycling community, they're the original hipsters.

Whats the length of this TT? I've googled but keep getting 2012 results..

54.5km. I think it is way more than 15km longer than the longest ITT in a grand tour this year.

The length really favours Kiry but he is a question mark re form

Are Radios allowed in the TT some of them look to have radio packs ..or maybe just MP3 players

The scenery in Rio is amasing ....inlets, beaches on either side, mountains ,

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,644 ✭✭✭D9Male

Yeah, Kyrienka and Phinney are in my mind due to the length and relatively flat nature of the course.

Allaphillipe ...he seesm like such a great all round rider ...climbs, TTs & sprints

But then again I remember how Kwaitkowski was just 2 years ago ...cycling is so unpredictable

Was it in the Giro this year that Roglic was superb in TTs?

    yes....can really go well

BBC can only mention a rider if in relation to Chris Froome

eg. Here is rider A ...he once had lunch with Chris Froome

Yeah he won Stage 9 in the Giro.
40.5 km in length and he beat Cancellara and Dumoulin.

Geraint has smashed the first part of the course.

Tony Martin must have lost several seconds to Froome just on that first corner he took it so cautious.

RTE go to the Golf? Why?

RTE commentators seem to be lacking in rapport. :pac:

But why show until the top riders start. Very strange but totally predictable from RTE

Yeah but that's a bit moot since I can't watch BBC in the office!

Yeah because if we had a gold medal prospect in this race RTE wouldn't be just as bad! The outrage of BBC is ridiculous. And they're barely mentioning Froome as it is anyways!

Would love to see "Spartacus" get this one..what way to finish it would be
