Daft rentals has posted a single for rent for 550 euro per month, three month rental, at Adelaide Road, St. Stephen's Green, Dublin 2. I live in Los Angeles, California, am seeking a three-month Dublin rental (hard to find),and am wondering about the area. Any input greatly appreciated!

I imagine that what is being advertised is either w single room in a shared house(less likely) or a beds it/studio of which there remain a number on Adelaide Road. It is a very nice road with a specialist hospital, a number of corporate/government offices and some 300 year old housing which were probably turned into tenements 200 years ago and are In various states of repair depending on the landlord. It all depends on what you are looking for/ willing to accept. At that price, I wouldn't expect a lot. Does it have private toilet/shower facilities.

Apologies, I should have stated that the area is fantastic, my only concern would be about the standard of accommodation.

Many thanks for the information. The ad doesn't provide much (I'm sure it's not a palace at that price) but if the area is okay, that's a big plus. I'm looking to spend a bit of time in Dublin with the view of trying to live there a few months of the year, so want to familiarize myself with different neighborhoods, etc.

    Property Overview:
    • Furnished

    Lease:
    Minimum 3 Months
    Property Description:

SHORT TERM LET ONLY. 3-4 months

A 3-4 month let sounds dodgy - why would they be doing that?

Make yourself aware of the sort of scams that sometimes get advertised on DAFT, eg as described here: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=100277869

Do not pay any money until you see the place.

Use AirBnB or similar to find yourself an interim place - or for 3 months, perhaps a place for the whole stay.

Oh my...that's an eye opener. The ad did mention "suitable for student" which sounds scam-like after reading the link you posted. Thanks for warning this clueless Yank. :)

Yes looks fake to me. The mobile number seems to come up with different names on different ad's.

    See https://www.google.ie/search?q=086+8205460&oq=086+8205460&aqs=chrome..69i57&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#q=086+8205460&start=0

Plus the add has no pictures.

Yes, no pictures, and "the advertiser has not provided an email address and wishes to be contacted by phone." Many, many thanks and great sleuthing!

Remarkable how completely naive one can be (i.e., one being me) when venturing out of town. Would never fall for something scammy like this in Los Angeles. Thanks for the guidance.
