I thought Rogan was quite good, he is excellent at explaining what is happening for new viewers and I'd imagine plenty of them were watching on Sat night.

The only criticism I'd have was that he didn't register the 3 knockdowns as important, he focused more on McGregor's unwillingness to follow him to the mat.

He got excited at the end of the 3rd but to be fair it looked like the fight could end there

Hard to take this result seriously when you consider that if the fight went on another round McGregor would have been on the canvas half choked to death. He was a beaten man by the end and the clock saved him from getting a proper pounding thereafter. But this is the problem with MMA and boxing etc. The round and fights have been shortened so much that if you're "technically" the better fighter you can get success from an early flurry and hide and run for the rest of the fight. The paramenters in boxing and other combat sports are always being moved to take the advantage away from the grinder and the guys who fight an honest fight with heart.

The reality is McGregor can't actually go toe to toe with Diaz and come out on top if they are put in a ring and it's a fight to a KO or TKO. It's one thing winning on points if you're clearly the better fighter and the other guy is struggling, but there's little to celebrate from the winning camp if it's a close call and the tide is going against you. Disingenuous really.

Mad how many pros called it for Diaz. I know some of them are probably mates with Diaz or pi*&ed with McGregor but still, you'd think they'd know how to score a fight

Ye, seems the narrative from those supporting McGregor. Ridicule those of a different opinion and close down debate if anyone points out that no matter what McGregor can throw at Diaz he'll never really be able to beat him.

You should start your own organisation and call it UCC. Ultimate Chin and Cardio.

    You'd make a fortune bro!

While being on the ground, gassed and clock watching.

He was on the ground for about 10 seconds?

Nate was put on the ground 3 times by conor probably for the same amount of time.

    What's your point?

Ye 10 seconds at the end of the fight where he had become dead on his feet, and prior to that was trying to run away and run down the clock with the cage holding him up. Diaz was put down 3 times and was still ready for more. Was Conor?

But the fight doesn't go six rounds.

McGregor would have had different tactics for a six round fight. If it was a three round fight or a twelve round fight the tactics would have been different again.

    So your point is redundant.

The reality is fights aren't fought until one guy gets finished so again your point is redundant.

Well no, the longer a fight goes on the more Diaz gets on top. The fact McGregor needs specialised set tactics and Diaz will just goes out and fights is telling i.e McGregor can't go and beat him straight up. Kind of goes against all the talking McGregor does about being able to beat any man at any time. Would he go for another 5 rounds with Diaz today? Doubtful. Would Diaz be ready to rock? Certainly

Watched the fight when I woke up at 11am yesterday. I saw that Nate Diaz won by submission and had that in my head all day. Met my mate for a pint last night and he told me McGregor won by decision. I had been watching the previous fight. Total n00b so I am.

Ah now I understand the hate.

Tough to be proven completely wrong eh, man up and accept it.
McGregor could fight Nate 10 times at any weight and with different tactics and he'll lose every single time. Nate is a machine who will always go the distance, hardy as fcuk. For all McGregors talk, he simple isn't, infact he's extremely soft if you rattle him. We seen it with Mendes too. If he doesn't take you out quickly, and he never will with Nate, he'll lose 9 out of 10 times as the other fighter will always start to come into it. And Diaz will always get into the fight at some point. He'll never beat Nate at any weight
Oh well, if he went 3 rounds one time then he must be the embodiment of a grinder. The only one who talks out his hoop is McGregor. When talking about being in a fight, he tried to say something along the lines of being of a similar "spirit" to Nate which is laughable. He's a far far cry from that I'm afraid. I said he'd be beat down before the fight and he was torn apart in the end. Mauled and demolished with ease. P!ss easy night by Nate's standards
I said he's extremely suspect when dragged down into a fight. Falling over the line after 2 or 3 rounds against midgets doesn't disprove anything. That Mendes fight could have went either way. It's a far cry from the machine he think's he is. He'll never be in a long drawn out brawl because he'll either take out a smaller fighter before that, or get his head stamped in after a round or two by someone who can stand toe to toe with him and handle his power. He was dead on his feet after two rounds despite being fresh. He'll ever only beat guys who are smaller than him. He's still unproven for the most part and at lightweight he'll struggle against guys who are his size. That's the reality. Nate was a serious price yesterday, and anyone with a bit of nouse would have lumped money on him. Such a predictable result
He was demolished. Technically McGregor is better than Nate, but that counts for very little as he's just too weak to take out these bigger guys, especially a warhorse like Nate. And any change he makes to be "more efficient with his energy" won't make one blind bit of difference in a rematch with Diaz (does he copyright a new buzz word/phrase for every fight?) . He may have a very slim chance of nicking a points win in a 3 round fight, but that's highly unlikely too. Nate would catch him and beat him down by midway through the 3rd round at latest imo. Over 5 rounds McGregor may as well just forget about it
Because he's a machine and would bury McGregor at any weight
I've given it loads of times. In no scenario does McGregor take Diaz, even over 3 rounds at 155. McGregor can't hide from him in the octagon and he'll catch him and beat him to a pulp before the 3 rounds are out. He doesn't even need to beat him down. One tiny mistake that lets Diaz in (he may not even need a mistake to get in) and McGregor is strangled and submitted with ease.

Not really. The context of that debate was me holding a poster to a reply on a certain question, as the poster in question refuses to answer any questions and tries to take any point off topic when the questions get hard and is caught out

Nate wasnt on top in round 4 after winning the 3rd was he.

Yeah it's called being a professional, it's not street fighting.
Most pro teams, players and fighter have tactics, it's called being smart.

    He does fight anyone anytime.

Do you think he should fight to other people's strengths?

Diaz looks more busted up to me. Anything else is speculation.

Fair enough. I based my analysis on the fact that after all McGregors talk that he'd actually go for it toe to toe, like he always claims he would anytime and anywhere. I hadn't factored in he'd spent half the fight running scared and clock watching, so I apologise. I was wrong that I ever thought McGregor had the balls to go toe to toe with Diaz for 5 rounds

So you're saying the fight should last as long as it takes for diaz to win and that mcgregor is foolish for being tactical? Absolute nonsense

What does a whip and gun have to do with two fighters going head to head, with one not being able to beat the other straight up?

All the posts I quoted were proven wrong, you still try and hide from your tripe even thought I posted it in all its glory.

Using hyperbole is making you look more foolish, he won three rounds clearly.
He ran a total of three times I think to reset his position.
Looking at the clock is smart to decide what your next move is.

It's clear you aren't here for an objective debate on the fight, you're just here to try and belittle Conor's victory. Keep trying though because you are failing miserably and I'm enjoying making you look stupid.

I'm only going by all the talking McGregor does. What ever happened to his anytime anywhere mantra before the first Diaz fight? Now it's spend months hatching a plan to avoid going toe to toe for 5 rounds and sneaking a points win. Bit of a come down, don't ye think?

Isn't McGregor always talking about fighting anyone on the whole UFC roster anywhere and anytime? Didn't he want to fight Mayweather on Mayweathers terms seeing how cocky he was in his ability? Again, I wasn't aware McGregor would spend his whole time running. If anyone is caught out, it's McGregors come down from his anyone, anywhere, anytime mantra
