By the way, Sonnen is the same person who claimed Conor was 172 the monday of UFC 189 and close to 170 in the cage, the man is a rent a quote.

This, the two quotes combined simultaneously claim that he went up 23lbs, but that he also went down 4lbs

He's claiming he weighed more in the cage in July last year than he did in March, makes no sense.

Conor is training with Dillon Danis ahead of 202, seems he's paying more attention to his ground game than his touchbutt technique this time round.

    He mostly competes no-gi.

    Not really.
He's in next months copo podia in the gi.
And the last copo, pan ams, and Worlds last week, all in the gi.
He does both, no-gi events are mostly later in the year.

But which he does is not the point. I was pointing out that 181 (82.3kg) is the MW limit in the gi. For no-gi it's 175lbs (79.5kg)

And being a student of Marcelo, he probably cuts weight for both.

apparently he cut 22lb for the Copa Podio anyway!

Did Marcelo cut much for comp? I've always imagined him just rocking up undersized at times and smashing everyone.

But I have often wondered about walk-around weight vrs comp weight of top jiu jitsu guys in general.

He cuts a few kg, nothing major though.

    Chael maths....so 181 lbs - 23lbs x 4lbs - 145lbs = Conor's a fat bastard

ADCC used to be day before weigh-ins. Some were doing full MMA cuts then. GSP was in the 77kg bracket, Galvao was too at one point.
But Popovitch was massive at 77kg, taking the piss lol.

Pretty sure both him and Nate said they don't want to fight on the same cards. I think Nate said so in the interview with Ariel a few weeks ago, but I'd say they were trying to add Nick to 202 alright.

If Maia gets the win here he should be next in line for a title fight, even ahead of Wonder Boy.

Its them two next up anyway. Unless condit beats him. They should scrap re matches as well unless its a draw. How woodley got in ahead of either is amazing.

I wouldn't be certain about that tbh.
WB is the no.1, just beat the no.2. What more could he do to cement his shot?
I think a win puts Maia at 2 or 3 in the division. Maybe he'd go top if he dominates Condit.

The big risk for Maia is that the WW title could be rebooked before 202

That's weird i've watched the fight maybe 4 times and didnt notice how well those connected. It's a problem for me in general when im watching fights, a lot of the strikes i need to be told by the commentators that it was actually a good shot :P
