Lads, for all you lot know he has a prescription. Fair enough they're gaudy as **** but who cares if he's wearing glasses? Lots of fighters wear glasses.

As if it's such a bag deal.

Can we get back to talking about the fight instead of ****en glasses.

It is fight week I suppose, it's to be expected.

Yeah he seems to have gone very hipster lately :/

Lately? Wasn't he rocking a top knot two years ago?

No he didn't. The spawned certain classes starting to wear beards. Beards were already popular, that's why MrGregor starting wearing one.

Can they not just stick the time in the thread title to prevent this question being asked a million times over the next week, I suppose even if it was in the thread title people would still ask :pac:

I actually like McGregor a hell of a lot more since he lost. I hope he wins.

I like Diaz too. Seems like a really decent guy so I wont cry if Mcgregor loses either.

I do think the loss to Diaz has given McrGregor a little perspective, and he needed that.

Unfortunately seems like it's going to be extremely quiet in terms of Irish supporters compared to the last few. Understandable so I know.

I think you'll be surprised by the amount of Irish in attendance.

Not necessarily all travelling from ROI/NI but there's a huge ex-pat population in America. Ex-Pats as in born in Ireland ....not counting the "my great great grandmother was from Kerry" lot who will add to the numbers......

There'll be plenty of "ole, ole, ole" and craic to be had.

I simply can't picture a scenario where 5 or 6 hundred Irish living in america don't make that Vegas trip. Maybe more. You'll easily get 1 plane load from Boston, 1 from NY, 1 from Chicago. And it's much easier for them to make a weekend of it than it is for us.

In terms of Irish going from here, i'd say perhaps in the 400-500 region.

If i had to throw out a rough guess, i'd say there'll be anywhere from 1,500 to 2,500 Irish in that 20,000 seater stadium.

If that's the case, it'll still be a cracking atmosphere.

Maybe i'm being naive or optimistic but i heard the same pessimism ahead of the Aldo fight. And plenty of Irish rocked up.

Granted, the Euros and UFC200 debacle hasn't helped...... But i still think August 20th is a much better time of year financially for people to make that trek. If we got a few thousand 2 weeks before Xmas i'm confident that'll be replicated or bettered now.

Even the Mendes fight, for all the noise we made i don't think there was much more than 3,500 irish in Vegas for it.

I wouldn't consider that to be a lot of irish compared to previous events.
definitely think there was more than than 3500 irish at 189

McGregor has plenty of non Irish fans anyway so he'll still have a lot of support.

Still not sure how I see this going, change my mind all the time. I'll be pumped for it come Saturday afternoon anyway.

I didn't do a head count, granted, but that was my impression of it.

The reduction of the bleachers tickets to $215 has definitely helped any Irish based in the States with the time, money and inclination to head out. Domestic flights State side are generally handy to get cheap enough at short notice.

Also think you're gonna get the usual 5 or 6 stag parties heading over to it.

For all the talk of poor ticket sales, there appears to be less than 1,500 tickets left.

It'll likely sell-out as the hype builds over the week.

Maybe Dana will have to dip into his $360 million to buy some up and invite even more celebs.....

    But it'll sell out.

I've always liked Conor and his sense of humour. I might be guilty at times of blindly supporting the local fella. I know he's from Crumlin but he's lived most of the last decade around my neck of woods.

I saw him in Maynooth after the Aldo fight. That's something that impresses me about him. He's this big star now but he still eats in normal non-swanky restaurants when he's floating around Straffan/Maynooth/Celbridge etc. Can't miss his cars to be fair. He's good with his time as well, very rarely see him tell anyone to jog on when asked for a selfie.

Def went up in a lot of peoples estimation for how he handled the loss. He didn't make excuses really and i get the impression he could have made at least one excuse......... I got to have a good chat with his mam maybe 7 weeks ago outside the docs. Without going into too many details, i have a strong feeling there was more to UFC 196 fight week than meets the eye. The rumours of a serious Staph/chest infection in the run-up might not be too far off the mark. I didn't exactly conduct a hard hitting interview with her, nor did she drop any revelations, but i left with the distinct impression he wasn't even close to 80% for that one.

I think it's also the first fight in quite a while that his mam and sisters aren't heading out to it. That might be a tiny factor that could possibly help Conor. Might seem inconsequential but a lot of sports stars (especially combat) feel the nerves worse with their family ring-side.

I thought there was a lot more. Weigh-ins held maybe 6,000. Obviously wasn't all irish, but it was mostly irish and there were plenty of irish turned away.
I think 189 just had everything in place for a huge turn out. Ex-pats, J1's in california, Irish fans on the "summer" holiday. There were plane loads coming from Sydney and further away.

There really no way on knowing though.

The big Vegas events rarely sell out fast. With a bigger venue, its going to take longer. You could still buy tickets for 189 during fight week. Some lunatics paid big money for tickets after the prelims were over.

    true :)

How many McGregor fans do ya reckon are actually in Ireland? It's a tough one to even hazard a guess. Off the top of my head, i'd say anywhere up to 150,000 in that 18-35 demographic who could theoretically be up for going to a Conor fight.

And i suppose all things being equal you could just about get away with doing the trip for €1,200 if you get lucky with flights, hotels and tickets in the bleachers and don't go too mad on the booze or casino.

Plus you'd have a fair crossover between the sizeable poker playing population in Ireland who would be a fan.

I don't know why but i'm pretty optimistic the more i think about it that there'll be a surprising Irish turnout.

I know the same fans can't keep going to Vegas 3 times a year but his fan base is constantly growing, so you'll get a share of repeat travellers, some new fans, some timing a holiday for his fights, J1 as you say....

I expect Thursday to be fairly quiet with Irish, and the mini-invasion to appear Friday.

Rumble seems like a good egg too.

Truth be told they all came across well in this episode.

I was waiting for an episode of Embedded that gave me the chills and buzz for the fight.

    This was it.
