Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi all,

hopefully someone can help or recommend something. One of my fur babies suffers from a luxating patella (loose kneecap basically), the vet has suggested giving her Cod liver oil capsules once a day to help with her joint and to try and ease the onset of arthritis in her older years.

unfortunately her being the clever clogs that she is, is not entertaining the idea of taking one of the capsules, even hidden in food.

can anyone suggest anything, can I get a bottle of cod liver oil and put a spoonful on her food or is there anything else that anyone can suggest from health shop etc???

any suggestions at all would be very grateful.

    thanks. :-)

    hi there.
i know what you mean about the too smart.
my own one was the same.. i found the easiest way to give her the oil was getting the sardines/mackrel or that in lidl/aldi.. only about 59cent. but one is in tomato sauce and the other is in oil.. mackrel is a very oily fish anyway so even the tomato sauce ones are good.
i had more luck with these than with the cod liver oil bottle. also.. something else that may help her.. bring her for dips in the sea.. the salt water is good for the joints and that...
my girl is a white shepherd who is 9 and a 1/2 and in very good shape as we are beside the beach and give her the fish with her nuts.. pays off in the long run... plus an added bonus is it make the coat very shiny and soft :):)
hope this is of use :)

thanks a million for the suggestions. someone else was saying to me to try mackerel fillets I think i'll give them a try might pop into lidl on the way home see if she'll eat them for her tea.
I never thought of the sea, we live close enough to a beach so could probably make that part of her walk.
I'd try anything to help her. thanks for the suggestions :-)

I give my dogs the sardines in tomato sauce, they absolutely love then, and tomato is good for dogs (not the plant itself, stems and leaves are bad for them) as it contains lycopene.

if you live near the sea you will see loads of people with horses bringing them for walks in the water... that is because it helps heal injuries and joints :):) thats why i bring herself in even just for a little paddle...
any of the fish is good.. i personally get a few different ones in both oil and tomato to mix it up a bit for her..
but it is personal choice.. the good thing is.. wont do any harm either way. :)
