Thanks for all the suggestions guys.

    He went with a Suzuki DR-Z 400sm.

Sorry about the bad photo, but just rode it back to Dublin this evening.

So such a small engine, in a very slight bike it pulls like a train. I was actually very surprised.

He'll have fun on this thing :pac:

    Cheers.

She's absolute mint, not a scratch on her.

The minute I got off after riding it home I said half joking '' Kev, wanna swap for a Vstrom? ''

    We're delighted with it :P

I'm laid up with a severe gastroenteritis at the moment, I'll spare you all the details but its the most effect crash diet ever!.. Since Wednesday I've had a bowl of porridge and two slices of toast.

Anyway, when I'm better I'll try get up some wheelie photos :D

All messing aside I think a VFR800 would tick all the boxes, truely great bike.

It's what I have, and at 6'2" as well, it's perfectly sized, but it has a LOT more welly than a 600 Fazer or anything, so maybe a run between would suit better for now....

Really annoyed they took the exhaust on the VFR and made it ugly and put it down by the wheel.

The VFR800 would have been my choice too, but he wasn't having any of it.

I do think its a beautiful bike, esp compared to what they've done to the VFR1200 ~ must be the ugliest bike in the world.

I wouldn't rule out a VFR800 for myself in the future.

Great fun altogether! Just avoid the big straights and terrorise people :pac:

Given your love of fuel economy I have to warn you about it! It's a drinker.... but a beautiful ride to be fair.

Ask anyone below the age of 30 what the coolest type of bike is. Majority will say sportbike.

Leave the adventure/touring bikes for middle age.
    I bought an 1150 GS when I was 22 and I'm cool as ****.

Sports bikes are bland and boring.

Cheers man.. I rode it back to Dublin from Dundalk and the saddle was grand actually. But hanging onto a completely naked bike at motorway speeds was fun (for awhile!).. When I'd gotten to the toll bridge, taken off my glove to pay the fine toll my hand was so swollen from my death grip I'd to pull over to the side to force/grag & nearly KY lube my glove back on.

Now I'm a big lad, sitting atop a 400cc supermoto & I dare say I look silly, but it was still great to get a greeting from a passing R1 somewhere around Balbriggan :D

Next item on the agenda ~ teach my son to wheelie the thing :P
