    Hi,

I am a landlord and my tenant is requesting I agree to this being installed.

I rang your office and was told that there is a €199 fee to remove it again, which I can easily see myself being landed with if this tentant moves out and the next ones do not want this type of meter.

However, I saw somewhere on this forum that the meter can just be deactivated with a code?

    Can you let me know?

    Thanks

    Hi 2016,

    Thanks for your message.

In order to remove a gas Pay As You Go meter, an appointment would be required and the meter fully removed from the property. The charge to have this completed is €198.53, and would be due with the next bill.

There is also a charge of €110.86 to have the meter installed, however this charge is applied to the meter. When this amount is added to the meter, 25% of each top-up is deducted in order to clear the balance on the meter.

Certain Pay As You Go meters with Electric Ireland can be deactivated with a code, however these meters are for electricity only.

We hope this helps. If you have any other questions please let us know.

    Thanks,
    Brige
