Did you see Gary Lineker at the weekend.

How does a man aged 55 keep in such good shape? Is there genetics involved or just hard work?

There could be hope for me yet

Does the former professional footballer player have good genetics and a good work ethic?

In fairness, once you're in shape, it's not that hard to STAY in shape. Getting there is tougher :)

Gary never had to have a regular 9-5 job since he retired

    helps a lot

    management is stressful

Put it this way, he didn't say he'd don the shorts on the last MOTD when he Leicester already had the league wrapped up. You can bet your bippy that he's been hard at it for the last few months.

Also in fairness to him, he has always stayed in decent shape since retiring and not blown up into some cartoon version of himself like some athletes do after retiring.

That's such a BS reason. A 9-5 doesn't make you out of shape, your diet and exercise (or lack thereof) do.

It helps that he can afford a private chef or whatever to make meals for him, it helps he can afford trainers etc. but he still has to put in the hard yards just like anyone else.

Well it doesn't help. Work 9-5, kids to look after 5-9, makes it difficult to fit time in to keep in shape.

People like Lineker who probably work 3 days a week, 4 hours a day, have the space to schedule in a mid-morning trip to the gym that won't be cancelled because there's an emergency at work or your babysitter has fallen through.

Still takes the effort though. Plenty of people with no time at all who keep in better shape than someone who has all the time in the world.

9-5 leaves plenty of time, but those are forced to work 12 hour days may no be so lucky, along with a commute!

Erm amount of free time is BS !! .Of course it makes an enormous difference ,
If you have 3 hours a day your not working or sleeping versus 9 hours a day your not working or sleeping , ability to go to the gym for an hour is completely different.

1 hour in the Gym might still be only 1 hour in the gym but it is an unrecognizable commitment from the other.

depends on what the 9-5 job is and most hard jobs (microsoft/salesforce/IBM/Accenture) are NOT 9-5 and more like 9 to what ever
