Nearly every X570 if not all has bios flashback. X470 only a couple of MB's did.

Only the ROG x570s from ASUS do, the others like the TUF and the Prime ones don't.

The 3700X is a much better buy if you want real longevity. It has more cores/threads and the new consoles are based around a 3700X class CPU, so in a few years those extra cores/threads will make a difference.

The 3600 is a solid buy too, but won't have the same staying power. You are correct though, the 3800X and 3600X aren't worth spending extra on.

If you are getting a 3600 or 3700X though, there really isn't a huge need for X570 either. You could make the difference up there easily, EG, a B450M + 3700X, or even just a B550M. Unless of course you have a specific need for X570 platform.

The main reason I went with the X570 was for USB 3.2 front panel support:o....Might not be the best reason I know, but I did get it "Like New" with extra 20% discount during prime day so cheaper than a new B550 and the B550's did not have warehouse options or the 20% discount at the time. (Some B550's have usb3.2 but none I wanted)

But also it has better PCIE 4 support across the board and maybe better for future upgrades if needed?

I still have time to change, so might relook into this as well.

No need, 3600 leaves upgrading into 5700x as a good option down the line.

I'm going to get a 5900X, just to be safe. I hope this machine would last for the next 3-5 years.

I don't like that it uses two CCDs if I'm honest. That and I'm poor.

(link not working at the moment, even when clicking from my orders)

I managed to grab one, 279.99 GBP sold directly by Amazon.

Not for latency therefore not for gaming.
It won't be terrible but it's better to have all cores on the same ccd to utilise the larger cache.

People actually received 5600X's as early as last week. Saw a good few screenshots on OCUK I think it was. Apparently some retailer sent out a ton early.

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,684 ✭✭✭✭Samuel T. Cogley

Hmmm... did I get done on the 5600X at £279.99 based on US MSRP or is it a VAT thing? Thinking it should be closer to £229.99.

    Nope, that's the expected price. 5600X at £289, 5800X at £429.

Those are OC prices. CCL has them just a bit lower: 5600X at £279.99, 5800X at £419.99 and 5900X at £509.99 (if anyone cares about this one).

The 3600x on Amazon was £279.

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,299 ✭✭✭✭BloodBath

I got my regular 3600 for £150 from Amazon.

Anyone know if there's any B450 boards that are zen 3 ready now (with a bios flash obviously).?

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,684 ✭✭✭✭Samuel T. Cogley

    And Dispatched!

Think the b450 and x470 bios aren't being released until January, at least that was the last update I saw.
