Moyes really can't catch a break, feel so bad for him as he is very likeable.

I only seen score now fuk that was almighty collapse. Defoe is truly wasted there he made two bad career choices with his last clubs.

That's not even close to true

It's not that outlandish. Mathieu isn't very good.

Mark Hughes isn't doing much better, the Stoke squad is full of players who were hyped up but failed at bigger clubs.

On a brighter note, MOTD will be lovely tonight. :D

    not even close?

Barca wanted to sign Bailly this summer.

Both Smalling and Blind are much better defenders than Mathieu.

Thomas Vermalaen was even signed by barca a few years ago, they still havent replaced Puyol

I thought Mata, Herrera, Rashford, Lingard and Blind did particularly well. It's amazing how Blind can make his pace not be an issue. He's like the opposite of Shaw (who isn't so good positionally), but I'd still trust Shaw more.

There was a good spell of good attacking in the first half. But I wouldn't read too much into it overall, they were defensively awful on corners and poor in open play.

Cheers, only caught the last 20 minutes so I was looking for this kind of run down.

Saw whatever channel I was on gave Pogba MOTM. Was he actually that much improved today?

He was excellent. Himself and Herrera bossed the midfield.

He was very good today. Made lovely passes and was constantly looking to get on the ball and in forward positions.

Now I might get shunned by the people who don't like stats but looking at his stats does reinforce what a good game he had.

    Passing-87%
Completed Passes- 86 (Highest on team)
    Key Passes- 3 (Joint Highest)
    Touches- 115 (Highest on team)
Aerial battles won- 3 (Joint Highest)

He was in complete control today. Was great to watch.

Missus came in during the first half, "Have United always been playing like this since Jose took over"
    "Like what?" says I
    "Fast" says she.

    That is all.

I don't think he was a huge amount different to what he has been (maybe slightly improved), but then I don't think he has been that bad up until today either. Edit: one good change was he didn't try to dribble around players so often from deep.

Wouldn't mind trying to tempt Willian away from Chelsea.

A great result against the Champions.

Much better & without Rooney we looked much fresher & faster in attack.

It kind of scares me how long it took for someone to get to him to take him down....

That's exactly what I thought it was very slow he could of done anything again they came or had anything on him.

The only thing I'll say is security around old trafford is extremely tight now I got checked and all twice before we got to our seats

Haven't been to Old Trafford in years. Last time I went I brought a few cans in with me.

Haven't been to Old Trafford in years. Last time I went I brought a few cans in with me.

I went every home game between '87 and '91 and around 50% of away games.

After Hillsborough and Heysel the banned drink in the ground, we used to get oranges, inject them with vodka and take them in.

Some fun times for sure, when i first started going i stood in the United Road End (opposite old tunnel), there was the United Road, no mans land, then the away supporters, fcuk there used to be some aggro and missiles flying.

Always remember the scousers, an inflatable plane came out of there end and landed on the pitch, Munich '58 written on the side, place went nuts after that, coins, golf balls, the lot was launched. Hot drinks piling down on them from K-Stand

Funniest story for me though was 87, we played Coventry in the league and they brought maybe 500 fans, so we drew them in the cup at OT *they beat us and went on to win cup), my mate and i thought it'd be great craic to go into the coventry end and start united chants, now as a dumb as fcuk 17yr old what could possibly go wrong.....

Cup game and they brought around 8,000 with them, had the whole terrace and K Stand, now we'd have had no chance with 500, 5 even, we were goosed with 8k, so we went up to a copper, said it was first time in ground and we'd gone into wrong end, showed him our hidden scarves, he escorted us back to United Road, all the united fans singing "Red are here, reds are there, reds are every fcukin where'

damn the stories that i have, especially away games

Think it's okay to meet a hero but to hang out of him the way he did wow, would have had punch going his way if I was Zlatan.

Dragging him around the place while he is being tackled by stewards.. No!!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,424 ✭✭✭✭The_Kew_Tour

    :pac::pac: very good.

First time I was at Old Trafford was QPR back around early 90s around Christmas time and lost 4-1.

God if people thought Manchester was bit of kip now should have seen it back then. Used to stay with my Grans who lived close by to OT, Jesus was I glad get home first few times.

Much different now in many ways

Mata was very good IMO. Zlatan, good in patches but looked a little off overall, not his best day.

both are poor on their right foot, much better attacking down the left where they can cross first time on the run.

also, Darmian and fosu mensah can both play rb
I do agree on the second part in particular, though Jose doesn't seem mad on either. Shame, as Darmian is good and solid as well as fairly versatile and I'm a huge fan of TFM and his potential - hopefully he gets heavy runs in the league cup, Europa, etc. Early days in the season but I'm eager to see more and more of him.

I do get your point on the right feet, can't say I've noticed it as much in Blind but maybe I've just not being paying enough attention (and I didn't get to see as much of Utd as I would have liked last season due to timezone issues... maybe a blessing given what we were playing, though! :p ). Still, I just really, really, really like to both of them so there's just a tonne of intrigue from me on it!

Really thinking Blind is going to be a JOS/Brown level of squad player at very, very worst - good enough to push everyone else to do their best for fear of him taking their spot if they don't. Not as big or athletic of course, but he makes up for it with intelligence and technique. The two lads were very smart defensively, but... not so much in possession :D . Mind you they knew their limitations which is always a huge benefit in a player for me, Fletcher was also similar - don't play scared, but be very aware of what you are and are not capable of.

I thought it was Zlatans best overall performance for us so far tbh.

Mata was very quiet for the first 20 but came into it after that.

Blind, Ander, Rashers and Pogba the 4 outstanding players for me.

Rashers pressed and harried all game.

I thought Zlatan was very hit and miss. A few great moments but a fair few poor efforts. Should have had a goal of the season contender from Pogba's pass and should have had an assist if Rashford kept his composure. Maybe I'm being harsh looking back but I remember getting a bit frustrated with him during the game.

Mehhh I've literally no feelings for Moyes, just find it interesting, guy sacked last two jobs versus a guy new in gets team in Europa league place/new stadium, teams finding it hard.

Between them two it looks interesting who holds shot gun at the top of those clubs.

Have just seen on MoTD, for Rashford's goal, Herrera roaring down the field pointing out to Mata there's an acre of space there there for Blind to play it into. Herrera has to stay in the team in that deep position imo. Was a simple goal but was so well worked.

One thing that amazes me about Rashford is that he looks ridiculously quick on a field of quick people. Danny Simpson's major attribute is pace and Rashford had him on toast any time they got into a foot race, gaining yards in the first 5 strides, which is incredible.
