Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Happy with the win but it was a weakened city team

    Delighted

We really needed that win to get the confidence back working again

    Over the moon

Hull or Leeds at home please.

We needed that. Second half was a much more cohesive display. Looked more threatening and Mata took his chance well. Pogba showing more of the form we expect. Rashers was lightening on the left. Can't fault Blind and Rojo, did their tasks well. Shaw had a shakey first half but much more assured in the 2nd. Delighted with the result. Lets kick on now and hit Burnley for a few goals at the weekend.

Zlatan redeem himself in last half hour and pogba I thought put in a good shift second half. Another win the weekend and we will be forgetting Chelsea game. Ggmu

It was but United were missing their first choice centre back pairing too.

Weak city team or not after Chelsea match we needed the win and no better time and place!

Really hope can build from this now and start performing to a decent level.

Really good to see us play at higher tempo in second half to really makes us a harder team to play against.

Job done, a win we needed.

If Pogba is given a free role he needs to be a lot more threatening, Ibra average enough but did put in a shift. Not the ideal team when you want players to be fresh for the weekend, we badly need a win in the league too.

So who does everyone want next round?

Liverpool, West Ham, Arsenal, Leeds, Newcastle, Southampton, Hull

Don't think it has been mentioned but Morgan put in a great shift at the end and held the ball well

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,217 ✭✭✭✭StringerBell

Enjoyed that immensely, for the most part. :)

Hope we avoid West Ham away next round nasty spill towards the end of their match tonight in the stands

Shout out to Rojo, he was great and should continue playing as CB rather than LB.

    At home to West Ham

    Not the worst draw.

Considering West Ham's away home form I would have rather played them away.

The curfuffle would have been a london thing.

At least it's a home game and West Ham have been pretty bad this season.

Need to get points on board now in the league and see where it takes us

The teams above us are all well capable of slipping up

Burnley will be tough to break down on Saturday but if the workrate and hunger is there it should be three points for Utd

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,848 ✭✭✭Julez

Have to be getting 6 points from next two league games.

The attack for the goal was started out of nowhere by Herrera busting a gut to get the ball back. He turned a situation where City could have played it out from the back or had a few passes between the keeper and the CBs into a high pressure situation where City had to make a hoof, and a sloppy one at that. Then there was his movement in the box to allow Ibra's ball to get to Mata who then scored.

His form lately is really promising, delighted to see him make the most of his chances under Mourinho.

Hopefully Schneiderlin coming on is a sign of things to come. Hope he gets more gametime now. thought he did well and was composed and did what was asked of him..

He's one of those that you will end up loving if he does well, even though everybody else will hate him.

  • Does anyone have comprehensive stats on how much ground Herrera has covered in the games he has played this season?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 20,779 ✭✭✭✭jayo26

Carrick is not fantastic but he is just so good at what he does the difference of having him instead of fellaini in midfield is chalk and cheese. He is so disciplined no bul**** running forward and leaving midfield open and getting in the way of attacking players and passing the ball back to defence.

I think it's why pogba had more freedom in second half he had Carrick there in middle behind him.

I'd absolutely love to see Ander made captain at some stage.

See westham fans doing what westham do best. They do not deserve that stadium they have been gifted. Some of them are absolutely low life's.

Let's not get carried away. The Chelsea and Liverpool games were the proper tests. We did well in one and were hopeless in another.

Good win tonight but weakened City side. If we lost tonight we might as well have forgotten about season

    What happened tonight?

I love the fighting spirit than Herrera always shows. He scraps for everything and he always sounds passionate when he talks about the club. His performance tonight and against Liverpool were both outstanding. With the right attitude and talent it's fairly obvious why he's a fan favourite.

He needs to be partnered with Carrick or Schniederlin in every game. They are the perfect types of players to partner him with. I thought Valencia was outstanding tonight also.

It makes sense to keep playing Pogba to try and get him settled into the team and find some rhythm. He didn't play well tonight, but he's not going to improve by not playing.

The atmosphere seemed very good tonight, particularly getting behind the manager which was great to hear.

The biggest thing we can take from tonight was the attitude of the players. They were giving it their all for jose and the club it don't matter what team we were playing against it was a good performance of players that wanted to win.

Tore up seats and threw them into Chelsea away end. Then attacked that end.

    Scum.

Hopefully that a sign of things to come from Rojo. Steady the ship at the back when Smalling left it in tatters.

Not the hardest game but hopefully it gives him some confidence and Jose plays him a bit.

Weren't they the fans that smashed up the MU team bus last year? Surely something has to be done by the FA? by

When walking down sideline at end if game, Jose put 4-0 finger gesture to crowd and gave apologetic bow, so that was good to see.
