Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Also we don't name martial, rashford & TFM because of age yes? What is the cut off age?

    No, I don't think so.

My reading (of my own sentence!) basically means United had to name him in the squad. They could not (not allowed) leave him off the list (to not name him).

Think the age cut is 21.

21, any player under the age of 21 doesn't need to be registered.

    No - you can't.

You can't have a player eligible to the registered, a free spot - and not register them.

Why not? Is there a rule?

Players are registered as we had free slot and for worst case scenario when it comes to injuries and suspension.

When it was first brought in yes the rule was you had to name 25 unless you hadn't got 25 senior players but you must name a minium of 15 I think.

Yes, there is a rule. Which is why i said they weren't allowed to not name them.

You can only not name a player in the squad if:

you have 25 other players over the age of 21 that can be registered.
    or
you don't have enough home grown/local trained players to make up the required number (8 i think is the number at the moment) - in which case the overall squad size is reduced by the missing number; but if there is room for a senior player he still must be registered.

A quick count of the list above had 24 (maybe I miscounted) so there was room for Basti and El-Whatever to be named, so they had to be named.

Bailly, Blind and Zlatan are the nominees for Man United Player of the Month.

And Valencia has been nominated for Premier League Player of the Month (against Hazard, Sterling and Hull's Curtis Davis).

Can you post the link for that rule?

Just have a search on google/fa website. I've looked at it in the registration handbook in previous years. I can't be arsed to look for it now.

PL Manager of the Month Nominees: Guardiola, Mourinho, Conte, Phelan.

One of these things is not like the other :pac:

I'd give it to phelan for what he has done.

Comparing team strenghts, City, Chelsea and United had games they'd be expected to win easily enough. Hull did better against stronger teams than themselves, so I'd certainly not begrudge him it. But I'd say it'll go to one of the top three, given all of us were 9/9 points.

Conte should get it, seems to have dragged Chelsea up by their bootlaces

I think it's too early to judge what any of top managers have done. Certainly chelseas later end of the transfer window was a bit of a farce they seemed to pannick lookin for center back all of a sudden.

Our match against city is the first proper test for any of the top teams any other games we have all payed we would of all been expected to win.

Conte just bought David Luiz for 30mill. The only thing he should be getting is a mental health check-up.

In fairness to him he had bids for every other centre half in Europe turned down first :pac:

Did he ever bid for that young fella we don't play anymore, Mike Smalling I think it was. I had high hopes for that lad

    To quote Krieger from Archer.

And per the Daily Mail, N'Golo Kante turned down overtures from Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho to seal switch to Chelsea

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3770387/N-Golo-Kante-turned-overtures-Manchester-United-boss-Jose-Mourinho-seal-switch-Chelsea.html

And from The Guardians Jamie Jackson via José, Antonio Valencia may return too late for Manchester derby, says José Mourinho

    https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/sep/02/antonio-valencia-manchester-united-derby-jose-mourinho?CMP=share_btn_tw

If true, I'd imagine Darmian will be given a chance to prove himself to José in the derby.

Would love to know how that might have effected the squad; possible pushing Schneiderlin or Fellaini towards sales - can't see it having been a Pogba OR Kante decision.

On valencia not makung the derby. Could see smalling come in at cb and bailly play right back. Plated there for Villarreal

His lack of game time or even being the in the match day squad has me thinking Jose may being smalling in before him.

No mention of how themselves and Madrid have stacked the TV deals in their favour in Spain?

No mention that this stacked TV deal has allowed them to take the best players from Valencia, Sevilla, Atleti year after year?

No mention of their various issues with tax?

No mention of their lack of abiding by rules for young players?

No mention of the fact that La Liga has dominated the top transfer fees in world football for years?

    How very surprising.

I would of thought Darmian is the specialist right back so he will be backup. I'm not in favour of taking bailly out of the cb spot to put him in at right back we have had enough of that crap over the years

Bailly did very well at right back (and left) vs Ronaldo and bale last season. Could be part of the reason he was signed.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 42,606 Mod ✭✭✭✭Lord TSC

Sterling would be running at the Rb all game, yeah? Putting Bailly in there to mark him might work, in that we won't want a RB who is being caught up the field...

Conte? Because he has never been on the coaching staff for a Champions League win?

I dont have the exact quote but Jose said something about training the attacking tendencies out of Baily before the season started so mightn't want to play him RB but who knows.

Thought sterling was mainly playing on the right for city this season?

I don't have a problem with his ability at covering right back I have a problem with splitting up a rock solid center back pair for the biggest test of the season and they have built up momentum together.

I'd prefer putting Darmian in fresh at rb then moving bailly to rb and bringing in Smalling who hasn't played at all either.

Thank God united have so much influence over the FA lads because without that aguero would never of been cautioned let alone banned.

I'm starting to believe not only do United control the media and the FA, but we also have control over Aguero's left arm.

How City expected or even thought Aguero would get away with that is unreal. Surely even Stevie Wonder would have called that out.

Their appeal was purely on the basis of whether the ref saw it. Given he said he didn't they were expecting the FA to say one of their top refs was a liar for City to win the appeal. Madness really.

Yeah I'm sure they'll be falling over themselves to defend someone banned for 3 games because they threw an elbow at a lads throat.

So when do extra match bans come into place. What's the criteria for that?
