Fellaini has been pretty much flawless tonight.

All joking aside, he looks like the perfect foil for Pogba. We're a wee bit more open through the middle than we would be with a Blind/Morgan/Carrick in there but they go well together.

Fellaini playing the position he always should have been and he's been excellent, 2 games in a row.

I can't believe it, he is doing the 90!

Tony V's been a breath of fresh air so far this season. Great to see him going gung ho every chance he has

    What's that about?

Sounds like Pogs will be hooked soon, not a surprise, but well done PP :)
Said I'd get a sex change and live stream it on the Liverpool megathread if Martial stays fit and doesn't get 200 competitive minutes this season. :o
    Edit: Martial off instead

To be fair to them, they could have had a goal or two as well. Saying that, we should have had another 1 at least.

De Gea has had a pretty boring evening :)

He could stink the place out and play more than 1000 mins this season easily, don't think you've much to worry about.

That's my point, they will be trouble for anyone on their day I feel. They need to find the goals of Mane and Pelle but other then that the effort and ability is still there

I like them, it's such a pity they get slaughtered every season for their best players. They'd have some side now if they could have kept the best they've sold recently.

Southampton are going to be a tough game for everyone this season, they don't quit

They'll try hard but they have no goals in the team... Long is a 10goals or so ceiling striker and Redmond is a winger playing as a striker.

    Ah ****in sell him!!!!

Seriously though, some great signs from tonight, this season could be superb

I thought they are poor, I think they will struggle this season.

Lack of goals will be a big contribute I think

Nice and that's all that matters. Pressure on all the other sides now for the weekend.

Barring him being inexplicably sold in the summer this bet was never in danger, what idiot made the bet and why?

With the amount of chances and good positions they worked how poor do you think we were in that case?

Early days but already a massive change from last season. We controlled the game quite well in periods. Everyone played well today. Rooney is starting to get sharper which is good to see. Mhiki looked good in his cameo.

    Isn't football fun!

I know it is early days but the Zlatan Rooney partnership has been progressing well in my eyes. Obviously still a lot of football to play but looking at the three games so far (Leicester, Bournemouth, Southampton):

    Zlatan: 4 goals
    Rooney: 1 goal 2 assists

Hopefully it continues to grow and do well, Pogba now as I said a while back gives us a central midfielder looking to push forward and attack which no doubt will help them.

Anyone good result against a good Southampton side (although lacking in front of goal). A few mistakes from most of the players here or there but overall no one had a bad game really.

Pogba looked like he has been playing in the side for the last 3 years, Fellaini again performing very well and it's a delight to have Shaw back running down the wing.

I thought we were brilliant but I disgree that they had really good changes.

I think the only one at the top of my head was the Long one in the first half. After that I would find it hard to think of one.

Bailly stopped 99% of everything in the back

Been a long time since ive enjoyed watching Utd as I did tonight

Tony V is a new player,

    Fellaini is doing the biz,

Ibra, just class, great header for the first goal, great cross by Rooney,

The fear factor is coming back to OT

    Great stuff

I didn't say really good chances,

I said with the amount of chances, and good positions they worked.

Now there is simply no way to say we were brilliant, while they were very poor when they had more shots and had plenty of good positions in the game that came to nothing, they won the passing and possession to boot!

Southampton miss cutting edge, but they played well and they will give teams trouble this year imo

    Lovely win.

    Everyone did well overall.

Rooney was very good in first half, little bit quieter in second half.

Tony M awful in first half but much better in second.

    Bailly solid as a rock.

Big Fell played an almost sweeper role excellently.

Shaw was very good, considering the injury you could nearly say brilliant.

    Mata very busy.

Tony V looks a new man altogether under Jose.

Blind hadnt much to do but did it well.

    Zlatan was Zlatan.

Pogba, fantastic, the man is going to be a legend for us.

All in all a solid, solid performance with some super attacking play in the second half.

    Miki to come in.

    Mike to come back.

    Rashers on the bench.

Really fcuking happy with it all!

    :D

There was a point round the 60th minute, 2-0 up and Martial and Shaw were bombing down the wing, pushing for a 3rd. THAT'S the difference between Moyes/LVG and Jose. Last year, had we got the first (not always a given), we'd have sat back and tried to park the bus. Jose wanted a third.

Awesome stuff. Once again, don't think we were playing at 100%; Martial missed chances he'd have buried last year, Pogba without a pre-season....but still got a good 2-0 win.

Pogba was incredible all things considered. Going to be an incredible purchase.

Yeah I thought Rooney was pretty good for about 50 minutes then kind of went out of the game.

Carragher pretty much summed Pogba's game tonight up perfectly.
