Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Rashford excites me so much.

See the difference already. The right moves have been made regardless of what happens.

Amazingly nervous display. Lingard and Ibra probably the worst.

I wouldn't be blaming Ibra for anything. We get a few attacks at the end of the first half, Ibra then buried his first decent chance and what a strike it was. He's had two other half chances near the end of the half, one a ball cleared when heading for goal. We all know Ibra doesn't track back, that's not his game. He leads from the front and United need to bring the ball to him. He flourishes leading from the front or holding up the ball and creating. So me, the first half performance had nothing to do with him.

Between Stones and Bravo, United are going to get chances this half.

Rooney shifted to the right. Hopefully the bench is the next stop

I'm not sure if i'm allowed to say this yet, but for the most expensive player in football history, Pogba has been largely anonymous so far.

Pogba has been anonymous, needs to start looking for the ball.

I was so disappointed when city dropped harte but it's OK bravo has cheered me up no end.

How was that not a penalty??

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,193 ✭✭✭✭Kerrydude1981

That tackle by Bravo was more of booking then Ibra's and Fellainis

Definitely a penalty due to the fact Bravo went with the studs. He's got lucky there. Hopefully we can keep this up.

Ibra's booking was fair enough. It was a textbook cynical foul.

rooney doing well out wide, should have been a peno and straight red for bravo

    Valencia's crosses reverting to type.

    Not a chance. Fell has.

There's a reason why most of the City play is coming down Val's side because he's disaster defensively.

He has left big holes back there and City are taking advantage of it

Would you stop city created nothing of Valencia nothing

    Rashers <3

Ah Rooney. Need far better delivery.

He has been ****e again really. Should have reacted quicker too when bravo caught him. Seemed to react very slowly to a 50-50 ball

I've just realised Graeme Le Saux sounds like Alan Partridge!

He's probably been our best attacking player today.

Such a shame that so much possession died with Lingard and Mkhitaryan in the first half. Could have been such a different game.

Our midfield is nowhere to be seen when we're being overrun by the counter

They were poor, but I think City took their foot off the gas in the second half and United undoubtedly upped their game.

Lots of hustle and bustle but City have never really been in trouble in the second half. They'll finish off a counter sooner or later.

So much for making Old Trafford another Mourinho fortress.

    Tony M for Fellani?

Wazza will be spared I'd say

    Shaw

Rooney needed to come off. He's been very poor.

Rooney is supposed to be the captain and veteran and hes doing silly little fouls like that.

In comparison to what other United player that started and has been good?

He's been atrocious today. Numerous balls given away and looks very leggy in general

Rooney too slow for this league. Off to china or the mls for himself

To be honest I reckon it's not a bad yellow to pick up. Bravo looks like a rabbit in headlights all day, no harm rough him up a bit for the inevitable aerial onslaught late in the game.

    Utterly brain dead from Rooney.

Yeah, losing with 8 minutes to go and let City take a two minute break. Genius.

I don't think he's been that poor. First half he was making some brutal mistakes but so were most of the players for us with the speed city were closing down.

When we are losing by a goal in a big game where would it make sense to sub off a player who has been contributing to our forward play, ballsy move by Jose to take off a defender and stick on an attacker but it is something we need to see more of and I am delighted he went for it.

Stack in attack and try to get something from this rather than play it safe and hope we get something.

    Pogba has been utter shíte.

Mourinho's home record here lasted long...

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,929 ✭✭✭KH25

Well played by City in fairness.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,652 ✭✭✭✭Sand

Second half was good, but City played for 90 minutes, United only for 50 or so. The first half performance was just terrible.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,894 ✭✭✭Nolars

Lingard and Micky were obviously not up for it poor first half well at least we did not fall apart and looked good second half

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,292 ✭✭✭Adamocovic

Gutted we haven't got anything from this match, especially losing to City at OT, but that's football I suppose, and a good sign that were back at the level where we go in expecting us to perform and win against top teams.

First half we were atrocious. Second best to everything, slow and City just closed us down and dominated. We were handed a lifeline with Bravo spilling.

Have to say though I was really impressed and happy with the contrast in terms of play when it came to the second half, we were much better. The fact we went for it.

So although disappointed overall with the result, personally I'm able to take some positivity away from the game.

And Jayop, to be honest 200 pages? We had a good run :P

Right so I'll try take those positives and enjoy the rest of the football today, for all those choosing to spend their time giving out about the game and certain players, enjoy.

Best team won .... Murhino got selection wrong and we got punished

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,161 ✭✭✭Cypher_sounds

I'm sure Jose will look back and regret giving a first start to Miki in such a big game.

Disappointing result but at least they gave it a right go in the second half and at the end there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,019 ✭✭✭✭adox

    City deserved it overall.

    Reality check big time.

Playing wingers at RB and midfielders at CB has to stop.

Rooney needs to be out of the team for it to progress and evolve.

Those three things will come back to bite Utd again and again when playing against the better teams if it isn't addressed.

Pogba was anonymous. Herrera was very good when he came on.

    Fellaini Utds best player again.

Jose got the starting lineup wrong. First half was a showcase from City. Two deserved goals. We were lucky to get one back. Much better 2nd half but just couldn't get the goal we needed. Gutted.
