Yeah I know I don't know why it annoys me so much I guess just frustration of not seeing anyone come in.

I think at the moment I am both a big kid and grumpy old man depending on the time of day

I'm, happy that Wenger finally woke up and did something about the defence.
I am not happy that Perez is going to be the 20 goal striker we need as i felt we needed to buy a proven striker. However he might be in time but as and from now he's just another gamble who might be what we need. Hopefully he'll make a big difference and light up the league. He's obviously better than Sanogo or Walcott as a striker but he's also no Suarez.

Yeah that sounds about right. Normally I am the eternal optimist but that has not been the case this year.

One bright spark for me in the last game was Theo's willingness to track back. While hes never gonna be a top player I do hope he can get back to his best and play a role

If we get a win tomorrow, some teams drop a few points and complete these signing I think I may be able to start enjoying this season

Possibly James Rodriguez is the so called mad signing were going to make

"Henry, 39, will be the second assistant coach for Belgium, behind Martinez's former Everton number two Graeme Jones."

Seen that alright bit of a strange move :/

I believe it could be but it might be a bit late. Not having the players in or Ozil, Kos and Giroud leaves us 5 points down and already playing catch up.

I cant help but feel that is gonna be the difference at the end of the year

If were lucky with injury's and our players are in good form, yes, I think we could have a successful season.

I don't know anything about Perez. 2 questions

    1. Is he quick
    2. Can he finish?

That is what we need up top as an alternative to Giroud.

My youtube research says that he's fairly decent in both respects. He also seems to take a pretty decent corner, and will set up a teammate.

To me he looks pretty decent. He likes running in behind the line, which will be great for Ozil or Xhaka to put balls forward for him. One annoyance for me regarding that is that Theo also tries to run in behind a lot, but is very rarely given the service.

I'm more interested in where he will play. Will we see him and Giroud on the pitch at the same time? I hope so.

I gather his record mightn't entirely apply as he's only recently become a CF.

I've no problem with it. Pretty sure Lucas allows us to spend big on Mustafi while keeping a lot in reserve for a better striker should they come along.

Mustafi and Lacazette would be us done in the striker market and as we know from Campbell, Debuchy, Walcott, offloading unwanted players isn't that easy when they're on big wages.

I don't think that Mustafi is £35m up front, I think that the fee is £28m plus £7m if certain criteria are met.
Perez is very quick and looks a decent finisher.

How long do we think kos and mustafi will need to form a good understanding?

Asano gone to Stuttgart on loan, I'd imagine this might have happened even if he had gotten a work permit.

It's been a thing on my forum for a few years now, since Wenger 'did a madness' in signing Ozil.

    I won't apologise. I like it.

Henry is now the assistant manager with Belgium. Good luck Titi.

According to Graham Hunter "Barca wanted Lucas Perez but were told he was en-route to Arsenal - terms were done and it was going to happen.

Really? I don't remember it before this summer. I thought that afcamden guy promised madness later in the summer a month or two ago and that's where it all stemmed from.

I wasn't expecting any apologies so more power to you :P

So would I. Just quoting what the man said

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,009 ✭✭✭kronsington

Is that us done for transfers so? I know nothing of Perez. If he's a back striker/winger/forward, then fine. I think Lacazette would have been a brilliant signing. Has all this "Madness" nonsense died down? Do people see another cheeky signing emerging in the coming days? I think that's it. Im relieved and surprised they didn't bottle the Mustafi signing

    I'd be very surprised.

I've never really liked Hunter, but why would he lie. He is very pro Barca too

It must be quite tough for them to find a good quality striker prepared to play 4th fiddle behind Messi, Suarez and Neymar

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,382 ✭✭✭✭greendom

Maybe Hunter is taking Cross' place.

    On Mustafi.

"It's a disastrous player for Valencia to have sold. He's very very good. Arsenal are signing well there."

Balague and Hunter have totally different views on Mustafi so. Quite happy with him signing though.

almost as if they are waiting for Balague to be wrong :pac:

Everyone would have prefered it to have happened a few weeks ago but around 100m spent on transfer fees and the players brought in with no first team players leaving isn't a bad summer. I'd imagine if it was Vardy people would be happier but then again from reports they are similar players and even though people may not know him as much and therefore are reticent you will get a few extra seasons out of Perez.

Now in defense your pretty stacked too. Not many teams have 5th and 6th choices like Chambers and Holding for example. Chambers probably should go out on loan somewhere he can get first team football and as a result can develop further though, Holding can be 4th choice until Mert is back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,013 ✭✭✭✭Wonda-Boy

Dont know if it was picked up on but Wenger did say, on SSN that Chambers most probably will leave before window shuts! So one defender in and one defender out...so defense in the same state numbers wise TBH.

    Gotsta balance the books yo.

It's nothing to do with balancing the books. It's to do with getting Chambers to actually play. He will be the 4th ranked central defender as it stands. That's soon to become 5th when Gab is back, and 6th when Mert is back.

He's only going out on loan, not being sold.

Yes, and with a huge amount of value added over the last few years.

We've never really gotten the signings we wanted but Wenger's moved on the older players and nearly cleared out all the dross without spending a rediculous amount.

Now just to see if they can actually perform when the chips are down.

Yeah, that back line and midfield!!!

    Bellerin - Mustafi - Kos - Monreal
    Coq - Xhaka

That's as good as it's been in a decade.

    There's actually no-one you'd want replaced.
