Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Yeah, that back line and midfield!!!

    Bellerin - Mustafi - Kos - Monreal
    Coq - Xhaka

That's as good as it's been in a decade.

    There's actually no-one you'd want replaced.

Poor elneny getting overlooked after doing nothing wrong.

    We're at 3pm.

Bear in mind that if you look at UK listings, you won't see it. Only Ireland gets 3pm kickoffs on a Saturday.

Apologies, I was watching 'mustafi' posts (sad I know) and it popped up from the official sky breaking news Twitter feed. It's now been taken down...looks like someone in sky had itchy fingers ! Irrespective of the Mustafi signing, it deffo made mention of a third signing

    Genuinely excited about Lucas.

I think it's time for a new jersey.

Looks solid enough....can't say I know him, though.

In stats terms he's very big on key passes and assists for a striker.

His shot accuracy is fine but goals is around 0.5 per 90 where someone like Lacazette would be 0.65. So that's a goal less every six games but he's getting the same shots off. This is probably down to the fact that Perez takes twice as many shots from distance.

But with our midfield this may change somewhat. Giroud basically got more shots than anyone last season. You'd expect anyone's numbers to jump.

I think overall, he's far more like Griezmann than Lacazette and will provide a much stronger option to complement Giroud rather than replace him.

Lacazette would get you more goals but without Giroud.

I'm sure he can go up front alone too if needed, a bit like Walcott ... only hopefully good.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,828 ✭✭✭gosplan

The really really positive 2 things I see about Perez are that if you gave him Giroud's volume of chances last season, he'd be on 20 goals, and he's actually a striker who can play on the shoulder and accelerate away from defenders into space.

I really think he's basically Vardy without all the extra penalties.

There's so much more too it though...

1: Will Wenger start him from day 1?
2: Will there be an adjustment period?
3: Will he be a Michu or a Soldado?
3: Does he have a broken back?

But if Wenger actually found a 20 goal striker for 17 million, you'd have to say hats off to him.

It'd be seriously damning for Giroud though.

here we go again with Lacazette :/ Roll on deadline day we might have another last minute deal like ozil :D cant see it though for £60million

One interesting thing about the few signings we've made now is it does seem we're trying to add a bit more passion to our team. Xhaka and mustafi were both captains of their respective teams at young ages, and cech at the back has clearly made a huge difference in terms of keeping the defence a bit more organized. Hopefully we'll start losing the 'inevitable collapse' feeling when we are leading in games...

The Lacazette stuff is just clickbait, he's not going anywhere, he said it himself a few days ago

I know something new pops up about him everyday , be funny though if we sealed a deal on deadline day ( wenger might think it'll restore his faith in fans)
    :D

Happy enough with our business but a deadline day bonus would be real nice.....

Mustafi is a good long term like-for-like-ish replacement for Per, so I'm happy with that. Perez is an alternative or compliment to Ground depending how hes played so again I'm happy with that. It just feels like all this could've been done much earlier in the window.

Sturridge doesnt seem to be fancied by Klopp. Sign him and complete our squad? 20 league games out of him would be enough.

He seems to have completely lost any pace, and do we really need another sicknote?

That's quite a strong team but why not play giroud up top and alexis out right and drop Theo

Admittedly, Wenger said Ozil would probably be fine for today, but Giroud is a bit behind. I'm sure he'll get a run.

I'd much rather see Theo up top and Alexis on the side. At least Theo won't come back to the halfway line to collect the ball.

Happy to see Santi shunted back down to centre midfield.

I think Xhaka - Cazorla - Özil could be the best midfield in the Prem when they're all 100%.

I think I'd rather see Akpom up front than Sanchez. I'm hoping this isn't a sign that Wenger isn't going to persist with this rubbish until it clicks once to justify the previous.

Akpom played for under 23's last night, so that wasn't gonna happen.

I guess he wants to try it with Ozil in the team. Last time hopefully.
