Such a stupid peno to give away. Xhaka can be amazing passing the ball but he's given away far too many stupid fouls for my liking

Stand on someone's head in box, sure ya can't get sent off. Or handle the ball on the line. The whole point of the penalty is that it's an extra punishment over what it would be elsewhere on the pitch.

Ox has improved on his early season form remarkably really. Very solid now, would still prefer Perez on the right over Theo, despite the goal, thought him Ozil and Sanchez were exceptional together during the week

Are you saying that some player was to stand on someone's head? Id assume thats serious foul play or whatever they call it. That's an automatic red card whereas I what Xhaka done was just a stupid foul.

The penalty was enough punishment, perhaps a yellow was warranted also but hardly a red. Ref was right.

It was a foul by Xhaka but completely unintentional. He'd done the hard stuff by winning the ball.

We have more than enough to beat these. A bit more clinical finishing in the second half we will be fine. Hopefully Mustafi isn't out for too long, but it's a chance for Gabriel or even Holding to stake a claim in the side now.

Bellerin has made a huge difference. Looks like Stoke had prepared for Gabriel's less offensive style. Wonder if Stoke will adapt to counter him in the 2nd hslf.

I don't think the double jeopardy thing applies where there is serious foul play or violent conduct. Also, I think there is something about the referee deciding that a genuine attempt to play the ball had taken place for the player to stay on the pitch. Therefore, like the Leeds player last night, if you deliberately handle the ball on the line, you will still get sent off as it's not deemed to be a genuine attempt to play the ball. Likewise, an elbow to the head could still be classed as a red card offence.

I could be wrong though!

I don't think he gave the penalty for an 'elbow', think he gave it for Allen getting to the ball first and Xhaka turning into him and blocking him.
