Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Brainless.

Smart call by Wenger tonight. Had we started with Giroud, he would have been sent off in the first half :pac:

Did Olivier get a straight red?

Second consecutive opening game Giroud has been sent off in

    Wenger deserves credit for tonight

    No he doesn't.
He selected the wrong starting 11.

    No, second yellow

    Ah ffs

    Giroud come on

From what I saw, he did nothing wrong. Will be rescinded.

    Typical of this thread

    I don't understand the ref's decision there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,456 ✭✭✭wonga77

Stupid from the ref really, call them both over give out if u want, games over and no point in sending them both off. Unless of course the linesman gave the call

Why was Giroud book wtf? Veratti tripped him

I'd say ref didn't spot anything, bottled it and sent off both players.

No, straight red. No 2nd yellow shown by referee

You can't rescind a yellow card.

Or was it a straight red?

    How do you know that.
We might have scored four and he'd be replaced for Sat :pac:

He selected the wrong starting 11.

    That's unbelievably harsh IMHO

It's a one match ban- suck it up - late enough so didn't impact the game

It's not harsh. Chamberlain had no right starting. Sanchez is not a striker. I would have had Xhaka starting as well, but I'll give some leeway on that one.

Yeah was straight red. Had the yellow out first and I thought it looked like he changed God his mind when Giraud was complaining and gave him a red

Maybe that's why he didn't start. He looked like a liability from the second he came on

Good result. Bad performance. We have to start playing better soon

Not really, Ox should be nowhere near the starting 11, Sanchez shouldnt be up front either. Things seemed to improve when Xhaka came on though I also thought Coq did ok, he's just limited going forward

Really?? I didn't see that at all. Either way, no way should that have been shown! Ridulous!

    Apologies if that's true

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,456 ✭✭✭wonga77

Yep both were second yellows, very fussy referee

He deserves credit for getting an away pony against PSG

Jesus wept, some of the people here have unbelievable expectations

And some would defend the indefensible.
    Entirely wrong team selection.
When the changes were made and we had what should have been our starting eleven things dramatically improved.

He deserves credit for recognising that the team in the first half was all wrong, sure. He's not absolved of criticism for picking it though.

Very impressed. Hes way ahead of Ox and Walcott for me. He actually has a football brain.

Defo second yellow. Ref did it arseways. Showed Giroud yellow, then Verratti yellow, then Verratti red, then Giroud red. Rewound the sky box to enjoy again :pac:

But we can criticise with hindsight which he doesn't have tbf

I was watching on SetantaGo so I just saw the red

Decent result lads. Much better performance 2nd half. Enjoyable game and I would have us as favourites now to top the group even at this early stage. Cazorla was excellent again and Ospina made some very crucial saves. Excellent decision maker he is.

Getting these results playing badly I'll take - we will get more cohesive- the team had big changes over the summer tbf

Will Ospina start on Sat against Hull or will Cech return?
I'd go for Ospina as Cech has not been impressive of late.

We criticised the team before a ball was kicked, that's not hindsight.

And lets be fair, the game should have been gone in the first half if not for Cavani shanking a few shots.

As soon as we started putting pressure on them we instantly saw the rewards. For some reason in the first half we were miles off the pace regardless of the early goal. It was the same the last day against Southampton. Pity Iwobi didnt finish that second chance. More than happy with a draw as they missed several great chances. Still baffled by the team selection, Ospina did very well but Ox was putrid once again. I know Giroud got sent off but its still good to see a player throwing his weight around every now and then.

It seems I was wrong. It was a straight red. Absolute madnesa

    Sanchez is not a striker

    Ox is not a footballer

Does Samchez do enough without scoring though - he loses the ball a lot too

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,693 ✭✭✭emmetlego

A very poor performance, but a very good result.

That was a straight red on Giroud deffo. They just showed a replay on BT sport. Bizarre, unless a replay shows something we missed.

Well the Ospina criticism was wrong and we don't know why players don't start

V harsh on Giroud that sending off

You need to go back further. Ref walks over showing the yellow to Giroud first.

It could have been worse, he could have picked a team that would lose 2-1 at home to City and have to change two players at half-time.

Results matter. A point in Paris is a great start. Three points at home to Basel and six from Ludogrets sets us up nicely for the home game against PSG.

    We need Giroud's physicality
