This transfer approach has literally nothing to do with 'click bait'. Do people even know what that means anymore? The most reliable Arsenal sources (Ornstein, Wilson, Cross) have all confirmed that we're interested in this player, and a very reliable source in Spain has confirmed that our bid is rejected. If those things are true - which they appear to be - people writing about it is not clickbait, it's reality.

If you're fine with the above 'roller coaster' and the fact we regularly miss out on players we were genuinely interested in due to low bids, fair enough. And none of the three players you mentioned 'came out of nowhere'. They all went through the same 'click bait' cycle but the difference is we bought them in the end.

Take the 3 players I mentioned no 'reputable' sources saw these coming

Ornstein gets what the club wants him to know

Lads stop gettin on the roller coaster

Every player we are linked with always starts with

    Arsenal interested click bate
Arsenal leading the race click bate
Arsene offer low figure shock click bate
    Arsenal in negotiations still click

After that's it usually doesn't happen

Xhacka, Eleny and Gab all came out of nowhere

It's the Metro, but this priceless comment sums up a lot of Arsenal fans:

"I'd take Lucas Perez over Lacazette any day, and I didn't even know who he was 12 hours ago."

They were Spanish sources. Also I have shares in Twitter! 😀

Saw Perez a few times last season and was really impressed. Think he might be a winger in our system though. Surely with so little being spent on him, we can still get a CB (Manolas?) and another forward (Gabigol?).

Ah now I get it, pretend that we were really interested in Vardy, Lacazette, Icardi & Mahrez and just when they didn't expect swoop for a sub €20m number one target Perez....gotta hand it to that Wenger chappie.

Interestingly seems very Vardy like in his style of play

Delighted with that group, I know we'll do crap as usual but boy do I love CL football.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,692 ✭✭✭emmetlego

    He's ours!!! According to Ornstein!

Arsenal have beaten Everton to signing of Deportivo La Coruna striker Lucas Perez. Deal agreed, #AFC meeting 20m release clause, 17.1m #EFC

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,692 ✭✭✭emmetlego

And now this beauty from Ornstein to follow that! Happy days!!!

Arsenal close to agreeing deal to sign Valencia centre-back Shkodran Mustafi. #AFC will pay fee in excess of 35m for Germany international

I won't believe a word of it until I see him in an arsenal shirt and see an official club statement.

Agree on both points Ornstein is fed by the club so id say we're looking good

    Would have loved Lacarratzi

I know nobody really knows much but can he play right wing and centre forward? thats what it seems like which would cover two bases really. I wonder would we be tempted to sell Ox or Walcott if a bid landed.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,756 ✭✭✭emergingstar

Orenstein has spoken were signing both

    Hon us

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,012 ✭✭✭✭Alfred Borden

Great signings. Being selfish, Id like another attacker but know that wont happen.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,435 ✭✭✭wandatowell

    The Orns has spoken.

That's the defence, midfield and forward line all receiving boosts during the transfer window.

    Hard to complain about that.

Anybody else have a slight concern over Luca abysmal record before last season?

Please say it is so! Be delighted to bolster the squad with 2 quality players, players that will improve our starting XI. "He spends what he wants, Arsene Wenger spends what he wants"!!!

Anybody else have a slight concern over Luca abysmal record before last season?

From the article emergingstar posted above:

“Lucas isn’t a prolific goal scorer” – that’s something you’ll be reading a lot over the coming days, supported of course by baseless statistics that don’t consider the fact that he only started playing as a striker last season. He’s often been an interior or attacking-midfielder, sticking close to the striker on his team. Arsenal have Olivier Giroud, a striker synonymous with performing at his best when he has a player that operates closely with him (Griezmann for France, occasionally Walcott for Arsenal). Lucas offers Wenger that duality in style: he can be the counter-attacking striker that punishes opposition defences or he can be a foil and creator for Giroud.

Good news if the Perez news is confirmed as he provides something different to Giroud.

I still can't comprehend why this wasn't closed in July after Vardy gave us the two fingers.

Ornstein backed up by Jeremy Wilson from the Telegraph. 90% sure this will happen. Only a last minute hitch will stop them from both arriving

Perez removed from deportivo squad for tomorrow. Jeremy Wilson reckons that's it for the in's but could still be some "interesting" outs still

Usually the fixtures are reversed arent they? That puts us away to Basel Nov 22/23rd

Edit: Home to Ludicrous third. Fixtures are slowly being added on UEFA site

Edit, yeah Basel away is last game, strange
