I get ya but Spurs can't buy a goal st the moment.

I'd focus on being really solid in the middle rather than creative and rely on Ozil, Sanchez and Wally to get a goal or two from somewhere.

I'd nearly drop Iwobi if there was a better defensive option for that wing position.

It's crucial the way Spurs are defending that we don't concede.

If spurs can't score a goal all the more reason to play Caz. Also worried about Iwobi with Walker.

Form goes out the window in these derbies lads. Gonna be a tough game. If we can keep Eriksen quiet I think we will win. Hes Spurs best player imo.

Jaysus I hope Mourinho isn't fired before we play United on the 19th :D

    From Pat Rices book:

"Gervinho was bullied the most, three players Frimpong, Wilshire and Jenkinson all had warnings for calling him retardinho"

    :pac: :pac:

Imagine Jenks calling you that when hes running around the pitch like Caesar from Planet of the Apes.

And Frimpong. No wonder he didnt make much of an impact under Wenger. Surprised at Jenks to be honest.

When I first read the story I thought it was fake.

Frimpong : let go by some league 1 team

Wilshire: let go to Bournemouth on loan

    Jenkinson: Washing Bellerins Boots

Gervinho in china earning millions because the chinese are none the wiser I know who i'd rather be

Gervinho wasnt stupid enough to get caught smoking or get absolutely off his face in public.
Im kinda shocked with Jenks to be honest. Always seemed a nice lad. Probably led astray. The other two not so much though. Two tossers who will fall down the leagues like rocks in water. Jack is fairly rubbish for Bournemouth and Harry Arter is really outshining him.

Funnily i was thinking about Gervinho the other day, i always felt there was a good footballer inside there somewhere busting to get out. He had skill but mind and body werent in sync like they probably could be. He reminded me more of a kid than an adult playing. Unquestionable skills but lack of wisdom and coordination

I would say of all the Eriksons, Kanes, Delli Allis, Diers, and whomever else Spurs have that Erikson is the most consistent player they have. The only lad id take for Arsenal tbh although we are stacked with top midfielders.

Hopefully he plays like he did the other night, couldn't pass the ball 5 yards. But yeah form is irrelevant in a derby they'll be well up for it. Although I think we should get the 3 pts

As long as Wenger can keep complacency at bay, which is my biggest fear, we should be ok.

It'll be an intense match as it generally always is.

Traditionally the next two matches have been the types of matches that end runs of form like the one the team is currently on, be interesting to see how things play out. Sickened there's another international break in between. I reckon we're more likely to drop points against United than Spurs even though Spurs are much better.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,382 ✭✭✭✭greendom

Good news that Ozil has not been selected to play for Germany in the next international set of matches.

He totally deserves the break and it will do him good.

If we could beat Spurs, Utd and PSG I will genuinely start to believe we have a chance this year.

Me too, for the first time in years! That said I've no doubt we'll drop points, against Utd and their devil manager who holds a vodoo curse over us. Would love to be proven wrong. First and foremost gotta beat this lot on Sunday, that'd be a great start :D

I think I'm going to have to sign back up for BT/Eirsport on their current deal. Over the next couple of months they have our Tottenham, Everton and West Ham matches, as well as our Champion's League matches which are never chosen over whoever Celtic or City are playing.

On top of that, the All Blacks v Ireland tomorrow and McGregor next weekend. I tried to be strong, but they're sucking me back in, and HD beats dodgy streams every time.....

Nah I'm not going there again. I spent the entire Sunday evening after we beat Leicester back in February telling myself that we actually have a chance this year, we can do it. We promptly played like Sp*rs in the next 2 games and got our arses handed to us by United's youth team and Swansea. I'm too long in the tooth to start having expectations. If we're still within touching distance with 2 league games to go I might start to think we have a chance.

I know it is a phrase that is over used but the United game will show the teams true character, we seem to have a kind of mental block when playing against both United and against Mourinho so it will be interesting to see how it goes. If we win that game it will show that we are a very realistic candidate for the title.

I can't believe people are tempting fate so publicly - it's the hope that will kill you! I just want to have 2 or 3 months without having that groundhog feeling of everything unravelling again. So, as a reverse jinx, I'm going with Arsenal to lose 56-3 on Sunday (several ogs, 2 sendings off with a Coquelin hat-trick in response).

I actually dreamt the other night we lost 9-4.

The Guardian have an article on "the evolution of Mesut Ozil", very good. Even the front page of the sport section is very good.

That sets tomorrow up nicely now. It's turned into even more of a pressure game, a game that we've bottled in seasons gone. It'll tell us a lot about character of team now.

I sure hope that's not the mentality of the players.

Yeah but Chelsea have been something else. All their players are on form.

Just glad we played them before they switched to this formation. I don't think we'd have put 3 goals past this Chelsea team.

They have come on an awful lot since then no doubt. They are playing well tonight to their credit. Interestingly he has Victor Moses playing alot of games

5 up. thats some boost to the goal difference. Still 25 minutes left.... This could finish up ugly for the Toffees.

Yeah but that's if my Aunty had......she would be my uncle stuff. We could easily say that if we had any of Koscielny, Mustafi, Mertesacker or Gabriel playing against Liverpool we wouldn't have shipped 4 goals, but you never know as that's what happened on the day. We beat Chelsea 3-0 and that flattered them on the day IMO. Fully deserved the win and doesn't matter how well they are now. That's just football. Beat Spurs tomorrow and we are looking great. No reason why Arsenal can't be up there and challenging for the league come May.

    Nervous about today.

Everything's lined up in our favour.

    Undefeated in a long while

    A stronger team

    At home

If it was us in Spuds position, I'd be raring to go. Derby's are crazy, form completely out the window.

    And I hate 12 o'clock kick off's!!

    Coq-Xhaka midfield

We have a nice bench, can mix things up if needs be.

Kate starting for Spurs. That has to be a gamble.

Dembele starting too but not Alli

Happy with that lineup. It's the one I'd have picked, obviously it's a pity Santi isn't fit. Then it's a coin flip between the Ox and Iwobi. First goal will be crucial in this I feel. Going for a 1-0 to the Arsenal.

Happy with that team. Hope xhaka doesn't lose the head. Bit worried about Kane and Son but I think the Kostafi axis of awesomeness will be ok.

Just left the house walking to the ground. Coldest day of the year so far.

Hate 12/12.15 kick offs. Always seem to end up in boring draws.

3 points would be lovely. All my spurs friends very pessimistic. Think it's a trap.

    COYG!

Why is elneny on the bench :) the coq is undroppable at the minute , but Xhaka is just back after his ban and is most likely to lose the head especially during a fiery derby game ?
