Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Joel would have been a lot better than Ox or Iwobi yesterday.
    Always gave 100%.

Giving 100% isn't the problem, lacking ability is

Still much better than not giving 100% and still lacking ability.

That's true. Apparently yesterday the team collectively covered more ground than in any other game this season. Plenty of effort but not enough penetration.

    "They were too nervous" apparently.
They should have been chomping at the bit for Spurs.

And my comment was in reply to the post on Campbell.

No-one has beaten Spurs yet. A derby makes it harder, a draw was an acceptable result to me.

A home draw against a title contender.

I respectfully disagree, but could be 5th in tight title race

A draw yesterday was probably a fair result but not one that the fans or players should be too happy with, it wasnt like they played us off the park or anything, in fact they were there for the taking but we didnt create a massive amount, although Iwobi missed a great chance in the first half, it was nothing like a north London derby in fairness, very tame

    Regarding what?

I was right about where we'd finish last 4 seasons
    I was right about Wilshere
I was right to back Wenger

I thought (apart from the last 1/4) it was a decent game if football with attacking from both sides

Only 5 shots on target between the two teams over 90 minutes, probably one of the lowest tallys over the weekend in the premier league, Im not really disagreeing with you, I just thought it promised so much and was all a bit flat

In the past I backed him and he has justified not being sacked.

    So time did tell- repeatedly

How did Wenger justify not being sacked?

How did Wenger justify not being sacked?

He has matched and exceeded the expectations of the club while being financially prudent while others around him burned brightly quickly, then burned out.

When would you have sacked him?

He hasn't matched my expectations or that of a great number of fans.
He has not won the league in 12 years.
Finishing in the Top 4 is not everyones cup of tea.

Unless I'm mistaken you backed us to challenge for the title every year. We haven't.

Right about what? That he's injury prone and needs to get a season of regular football under his belt, because that's happening now.

That's very much up for debate at best and many of us still vehemently believe that you are wrong on that one. He has definitely not done enough to justify the boards faith in him yet.

We do that where we'd finish. I've gotten it right. I don't ever recall saying we'd mount a credable title challenge.

Wenger could win the league for a forth time and there would still be whinging on this thread.

Wilshere isn't at the standard Arsenal expect. He ain't setting he League alive at Bournemouth either

A minority of Arsenal fans. The overwhelming majority back Wenger. Even the tepid "protest" showed that.

In those 12 years they built a new stadium. Maintained CL football- unlike any other PL club and won the FA Cup 3 times

Yes. Allow him the grace of leaving on a high. He deserved that. He's done brilliant things for the club, both when winning and when not, but now we should be winning again and there are many people who believe he isn't able to bring that. We need to make the step up, and he isn't capable of making that step.

We haven't made the last 8 of the CL since 2009. If you're going to talk expectations that has to be mentioned.

Bellerin about to sign a new deal.
Great news - just need to get OZil and Sanchez tied up too!

Lots of positive soundings about Bellerin and Ozil, but Sanchez news is very very quiet...

I believe Klopp will be Wengers successor. In a couple of seasons he's going to want to move to a big club. It will be perfect timing.

There isn't a hope of this in my opinion. Klopp is a very loyal man. I don't think he'll ever manage another EPL team.

I'd say there's almost zero chance of that. Klopp will probably be at Liverpool for another 3 or 4 years depending. Will likely move his family back to Germany and will eventually end up in the Bayern Munich job.

Wenger is on 8.3 M per year, Klopp is on 7.0 M per year.

Yeah, but Wenger is on his 20th year. Klopp has just finished his first.

My guess is that any new manager won't be on any where near £8 million.

Pep is on 15 million a year and Mourinho 13.8 million. Ancellotti is on slightly more than Arsene and Zidane slightly less.

If we consider the manager to be so important that the sole success of the club is pinned on that one person, who largely gets the blame if players under perform then its makes no sense to penny pinch, or even care about 1m in salary difference.
