Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Toyota Yaris pricing

I'm looking to get a nice reliable car with a small enough engine to get me from A to B.

I've done a bit of research and a Toyota Yaris seems to be my best bet. I was looking to get an 01 or 02 reg and spend about €1200 or so, but a friend of mine reckons realistically I'd be looking at spending €2000 or so for what I'm after.

Does this seem right, or could I get a good quality Yaris for in and around €1200?

Buy the best example you can afford is my advice. They are very popular cars and the best examples tend to hold their value well even at that age. Like anything the cheaper ones tend to be the rough or abused examples.

Keep the whole 15 year insurance thing in mind.
Yariss sell for silly money, but the odd tine you might find a bargain, you need to be on the ball ready to travel/buy though.
They're great cars though, but there are still bad ones out there so don't buy blind.

What do you mean by the 15 year insurance thing? I can drive but haven't driven in about 5 years so I'm pretty much starting again!

Some companies won't provide insurance on cars over 15 years old, or will inflate the price if they do quote.
Something to keep in mind when buying a 13/14/15 year old car.
