No it doesn't. All students in the one school will be at the same advantage/disadvantage. Teachers know students' abilities, even if the JC results don't reflect that.

There is no rule anywhere stating that the level for JC determines the level for LC. Many schools are regimental on this, but many others use common sense.

Hyperbole much? It's their junior cert, makes no difference to their academic prospects.

And what about the disconnect between Jc and Lc..

In any event (going by what parents are giving out about) parents know little of what is going on except
“ something something rote learning is bad... Something something my son is being deprived of 10%“.
Most of the concern ive heard about is just an excuse to rant against overpaid greedy teachers.
Talk to parents about educational outcomes and what happens internationally then they loose interest pretty fast.

Well, I was just addressing another poster's point about academic prospects and the JC doesn't affect that. The disconnect between JC and LC, no matter how great or small it is perceived to be, is the same for all students. If you consider it a disadvantage, then all students are equally disadvantaged as they are all following the same curriculum at both JC and LC levels.

    Agreed on parents' concerns.
