Constant Garda checkpoints near the docks?

For the last few weeks there has been an almost permanent Garda checkpoint set up on Promenade Road - the one that leads out from the Tunnel towards where the ferry terminal. Just wondering - does anyone know why this is? Sometimes they seem to be looking at tax etc but mostly they just stand there waving everyone through. Anyone know?

At a guess they are amongst other things trying to stop puppy farmers exporting tiny puppies out of Ireland

There have been a few cases in the news lately that have been stopped at the port

I think they are checking trucks too for valid DOE.

Any customs lads there? They could be waiting for someone specifically. Like Nidge bring in drugs from the uk

Constantly have one set up at the airport aswell
