Interview for primary school teaching along with the leaving cert

    hi everyone,
    I will be sitting my leaving this year and plan on going to marino to do the bachelor of education course. As I am from the Gaeltacht I'm going through the Gaeltacht application. I need 420 points this year along with an interview. Does anyone have any experience of the interview or know what it consist of. My Irish is okay but I'm not sure whether it will be good enough for an interview?

    I'm not a primary teacher and have know knowledge of that interview but, based on the standard of Irish among primary teachers in general, or at least my experience of it, you'll probably be fine.

    The variable here is the fact that you said you're from the Gaeltacht but aren't sure your Irish is good enough. Why is that? Is it that you live in the Gaeltacht but you're not actually from an Irish speaking family or just that you spoke Irish when you were young but mostly speaking english at home and with your friends, as many teenagers in the Gaeltachts do?
    If it's the latter, you've probably got a very strong base in the language and you probably only need a bit of brushing up (and reverting to speaking Irish at home and even with your friends - I'm sure they'd understand if you explained why - would probably do fine). If it's the former, you still have that opportunity to speak with the locals and raise your level to the required standard.
