HP Lovecraft definitely deserves a mention

Read at lot of Poe recently and I found his stories very atmospheric. Also HG Wells had some great stuff like 'The Red Room'.

Clive Barker wrote some very interesting and out there horror novels in his early years. Haven't kept up with his work but the likes of Weaveworld, Cabal, The Great And Secret Show etc were top notch.

I remember years ago reading the destroying Angel trilogy by Bernard King.it was the only time I every checked under my bed when reading a book.Having said that it was a long time ago and I'm not sure how well it has dated or if it would have the same effect.
Recently finished Brother of the Wheel by R S Belcher ,which was quite good. Also loved the necroscope series by Brian Lumley.
