A4 tow bar removal

I have already removed the tow bar neck itself leaving the light socket and frame the neck bolts into. I did this back when I got the car. I have 2 questions now.

    1. How is the light socket connected to the cars electrics is it hard wired or is there simply a plug under the car. If it's hard wired I might just leave it if it's a plug I might remove it. I don't ever see myself using the tow bar. Would that of been coded to the car when fitted.

    2. Probably the bigger issue. I remember when my dad put a tow bar on his mk7 golf they had to remove the bumper crash bar the big lump of steel behind the bumper. Would this of happened with my A4 when the tow bar was fitted. If it did and the fact I removed the tow bar and not replaced the crash bar will that become a problem if I was ever rear ended.

    It is a b8 A4.
