What's happened here please

    I found the cover of this small box on the floor of the garage. The box is below the fuseboard and seems to have some damage which must have blown the cover off.

    I do remember a switch tripping on fuse board a few days ago.

    I will be calling an electrician but can any shed a light on what happened? Thanks and I hope you can see the attached image

    The photo is out of focus so can't be certain, but it looks like a bell transformer.

    The cover may have just fallen off?

    It may have failed but can't tell from a photo if or why it failed.

    Thanks brightspark I looked at the cover and it said bell transformer:)

    We haven't had a Cornell in donkey's so Mrs Coldcake must of knocked it off. Mystery solved.

    It looks like there is some blackening, might be nothing but better to get it looked at.
