Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Tassimo or dolce gusto?

Looking to purchase a first coffee machine soon - mainly for Americano or latte, but possibly for hot chocolate. Amazon list cheap models of both for ~45 and I'm wondering which is the better of the two. The tassimo seems to have slightly cheaper Americano pods, but more expensive for latte and hot chocolate. THanks.

Never tried the Dolce Gusto but have a Tassimo. Quality is decent for those types of machines & pods easy to get

If they are the only 2 options you have I would go with the Dolce Gusto, I find the Tassimo burns the coffee. You should look at the Lavazza machine also.

Great offer on the Nespresso Pixie machine, €75 and you get the Aerocinno free. Bought 2 for future christmas presents. Can't beat that.

I ended up going with the tassimo as currys had a 1.5l one for 45. I was seriously considering the nespresso but the convenience of pods compared to frother/espresso won it. Thanks for the help.

I have a Tassimo and the coffee is good. Dunnes apparently have a special on right now for the creamer. One down side is the embarrassing amount of plastic waste it generates - it's definitely not a green machine!

Do any of these machines use a system that doesn't involve dumping plastic into landfills? We've an aging E.S.E. system, the used pods just go into our compost heap. I'd like to upgrade it as it is springing leaks and doesn't build pressure very quickly anymore, but don't like any of the plastic pod systems.

Honestly I know you said tassimo or whatever but I would highly recommend Nespresso. Works out at around ~35 cent a coffee and they're damn good

Nespresso by Magimix Inissia Coffee Machine its 80 at the moment with argos on offer but it's worth the extra 30 I think. If you do decide to get one Kazaar are my favourite pods
