Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Excellent!

Do you know what link it'll be at yet? Or is there a different link for each live game ye do?

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 2,165 Mod ✭✭✭✭L1m1tless

    It will be on www.Chessspectator.com

Regretting the request for live boards now after my performance! :o

Still, I know a few Benildus players enjoyed watching the games live, even if there were technical glitches on a couple of boards still. And a nice dramatic fightback from 3½-½ down too! Fair dues for setting it up; it's great.

(One suggestion which mayn't be practical is that maybe the in-venue screens should be set up a little bit further away from the playing area; players talking about the games creates extra noise, especially as other games finish and people are freer to talk - but the noise then carries through to the main room a bit)

ah you had a tough opponent, our club champion in fact. Thanks for the suggestion. Usually there are not as many people, we just happened to have 2 matches at once so both rooms were being used.

Still; definitely had him on the back foot until his knight jumped from c1 - where I thought I had it stuck defending - to d3 and to e5; I thought he was mad until I looked at the position again and realised he was saying my attack was nonsense! Never a nice thing to happen in a game. :)

Yeah, two games was busy alright. Still, a great little innovation.

Thanks, it still needs some tweaks but its almost there, I look forward to your write up on the match. :)

    Here you go. :)

Huge result for us to fight back from 3½-½ down to take a draw obviously.

Here's a photo of the live game set-up for anyone curious - there's a mobile phone over each board taking photos of the board and transmitting the details -

Don't know how to resize I'm afraid!

    Lucan 1-7 St Benildus.

The tightest 7-1 you're likely to see. Very harsh on Lucan

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 7,265 Mod ✭✭✭✭cdeb

    St Benildus 5-3 Phibsoro

It is a pity that the LCU site is so slow to update Heidenfeld results :-(

It's partly the captains' fault. The LCU's software requires results from both captains before it'll register it. The division controller sends periodic updates to the leagues controller who updates the website. Or so it went a few years ago. It wasn't really designed with response time in mind - when that software was first written, you might see a league table at Christmas, and again before the final round.

The other option is for more captains to report results through the ICU ticker. So we can see Phibsoro beat Ballinasloe 6-2 and look to have done a lot to assure safety.

Any result from Elm Mount's round 9 match? If they failed to win, we're promoted. Think that might be the first confirmed promotion of the season?

Who is "we"? Which team had 3 subs? Not at all clear which team is posting!

Well most know I'm from the Curragh :)

Well we won 8 games this year. No walkovers this time.

  • Registered Users Posts: 105 ✭✭flipsake

We'll done to the Curragh on securing promotion again. Tough on Drogheda but their match vs Lucan gonna be crucial now. Caught a bit of today's game on www.chessspectator.com Getting better all the time

Thanks very much, it will be an exciting final day

    Rathmines 6.5 Bray Greystones 1.5

Don't know the other results yet

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 2,165 Mod ✭✭✭✭L1m1tless

A Big Congratulations to St.Benildus on a well deserved league victory!

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 7,265 Mod ✭✭✭✭cdeb

    Cheers!

We won 7-1 against a weakened Ballinasloe. Did ye win in the end v Malahide? I saw it was 3.5-3.5.

Lucan beat drogheda 6-2, so drogheda and Malahide are relegated

  • Registered Users Posts: 105 ✭✭flipsake

Elm Mount beat Inchicore 5.5 to 2.5 and I think Celbridge beat Phibsboro by the same score.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 2,165 Mod ✭✭✭✭L1m1tless

Yes we won the last game, not that it made much difference.
