Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

This should be 5 or 6 already. Oman are absolutely shocking

We're ripping off the Icelandic clap I see.

To be honest, that slow build up clap has done the rounds at Lansdowne for a good few years now.

  • Just watched the goals.
Think someone said it already but can't believe Brady hasn't been snapped up in this transfer window.

Ha, the eir sport lads pitchside getting drowned by the sprinklers, desperately trying to be professional and just ignoring it.

Someone said he has a 20m price tag.

It's only Oman so you can't really judge too much BUT.

I really do like your enthusiasm but this team is sh1t.
This is worse than a training match.

I feel sorry for the people who paid for it.

Delighted for Robbie to get one on his final appearance and to equal Gerd Muller's total.

If he gets another three he would equal Miroslav Klose!

Why? Do you think the people who paid for it were expecting a classic back-and-forth encounter?

Most would have gone to see Robbie in his last game and hope to see him score - which he has, and it was a great goal.

They probably already feel they got their money's worth.

Doubt it. Id guess La Galaxy want him off the pitch by 55mins.
They have some important games coming up.

Nope, Friendlies are rarely a classic. But come on, a game of football would do.

Goodbye to an absolute legend. Seems like just the other day himself and Duffer tore Spain a second arsehole for 120 mins.

So long to our greatest ever goalscorer:(

We'll never see Robbie's like again. I say that considering we never did before. It's sad that he must move on, but that's life. Although he didn't do the business against the better teams in his latter years (many would argue, with reason, that he was stifled by the system), he was able to nick vital goals against weaker opposition. Goals that sometimes ended up being quite vital. Shane Long has that goal against Germany but I fear he'd miss sitters that Robbie would have been burying all day.

So now it's up to Long and Walters to step up. I think with Robbie Brady in midfield the team has a really impactful player. At least we can get one good campaign out of Hoolahan. Arter looks to have promise as well. I don't hold any great hopes of Ireland qualifying because it's a tough group, but I'm excited about the prospect of Ireland playing with a bit of guile, bolstered by the prospects in midfield.

Hard not to be slightly emotional, growing up in Keane really was King for my generation. One of my earliest and favourite memories of football was Keane firing past Kahn. LEGEND 10

It's the end of an era really. Robbie must have been the last of the squad to have made his international debut in the 90s.

I can remember debates in school over who was better, Robbie Keane or Michael Owen. And kids coming into gym class with Keane's name on the back of Inter Milan jerseys.

Hard not to feel old now with him leaving the stage.

    .

Your statement is wrong. We will see the like of him again.

He did do the business against the better teams. Look up his record...
Also you have to remember Ireland went through some bad times during robbie's career, but he still got over 60 goals.

i wish i could bring myself to merely remember him as the battle horse defender he was, not the baffling horse pundit he is!

Was up at the game. Good atmosphere for his send off. Delighted he got the goal just a shame they played into the empty stand first half. The Paul McGrath moment was something special because of it's spontaneity. All and all 25 quid I've spent worse ways. Thanks Robbie.

That little personal exchange between Robbie and Tony O Donoghue at the end of the interview was lovely. A touch of class off the field.
