a max of 20.2c today and 19.7c atm.
The strong breeze dropped around lunchtime followed by a glorious and cloudless afternoon. :)

got to 22C here earlier, beautiful day, not a cloud all day, clear blue skies, perfect evening for a bbq and few pints.

The cold wet misery that was forecasted to last here all week by both RTE and BBC looked like it got pushed about 200 miles further west and today managed to join in with the UK in glorious conditions. Yesterday was decent enough as well altho nowhere as good as today.

Could still hit 20C tomorrow but tomorrow really is the end of the summer warmth.

I can attest to that, dull overcast and raining for a time in Tralee giving 4.8mm, only got up to 15.3C and currently 14.2C and feeling cool and damp this evening in high humidity

Well just had two dry days in a row here in SE Sligo, most unusual for this year. I got my lawns cut yesterday and my sister's lawn today, am a very happy man today.

Has this summer seen some exceptionally bad forecasting
Never seen it so bad the amount of times this summer they predicted a good spell for it not to happen
Then today one of the warmest days of the year here in the nort east was 22/23 degrees most of the day not a cloud in the sky which was a welcome surprise

The complete opposite here. Dreary, damp, gloom ridden day with the odd spit of rain. Brought back warm comforting memories of the Summer just gone.

Was the perfect day for hitting the top shelf.

    New Moon

It was forecast to be nice for the past few days in the west and dull damp etc in the east
    Once again it was wrong
"Unbroken blue skies and sunshine again " for gonzo after a forecast of 3/4 days of rain/dull conditions
We are talking a 48 hour timeframe that has been wrong on a weekly basis every week since June
    Very frustrating

Couldn't agree more. It was depressing on Sunday looking at the the farmers forecast on RTE and the week ahead on BBC showing the eastern half of Ireland plagued with Rain stalled from Monday morning to Thursday afternoon with the warm sunny conditions in the UK preventing the rain from going anywhere else.

Instead we've had a beautiful summer's week with the exception of Monday which did feature some heavy rain and cool conditions. Tuesday morning started off dull but the clouds soon broke and the temps climbed towards 20C and have been in the 20's ever since and mostly wall to wall sunshine until now with cloud starting to increase from the west. Just touched 20C here again. The continental heatwave managed to get all the way from Poland to just slightly west of the River Shannon, while we didn't see heatwave conditions, most of the country has enjoyed the low 20's and blue skies, very welcomed and especially nice this late in the year.

Unfortunately the far west has paid for this error in forecasting with a duller and cooler week than what was originally forecasted for them.

KM79, you must have missed out by the warmth and sun by only a few miles, yesterday much of the midlands including Athlone got to 22/23C.

Raining all morning and still lashing. Localised flooding on the roads around Leitrim, nothing too bad but with the amount of rain we have had this 'summer' I'm starting to fear the worse for the winter.

The ground is saturated and has been for a good while. The Shannon at Carrick on Shannon is very high for this time of year. The level of water in the Shannon/Erne waterway and canals is looking high. Lochs and lakes are full.

We need a good spell of dry weather and lets face it, its not going to happen.
Flooding looks inevitable maybe sooner rather than later.

Does anybody know if any plans have been made to actually drain the Shannon? Or are the powers that be going to wait until people are made homeless again by the flooding?

Gorgeous day in Arklow and very warm and sunny already for the time of year at 21.3c
Could see a 23 before the day is out in the wsw scirocco

I'd blaim the authorizes for allowing people to build houses in these places in the first place.

Cloud has been slowly breaking up.all morning, and the sun just came out 5 minutes ago here in west Clare! Looks like it could.last a whole too!
