Ditto... In the market for a new pair and had seen those in Cotters, but 10's will be way too small for me. Rode for a few months with a pair of size 10's, not nice.

They have a sportier pair for a bit £140 in size 11.

They are goretex and are a great boot too.

I wear these in wintertime and they are warm dry and comfy to wear.

    Hi Folks,

Anyone got any leads on a decent Goretex jacket? Doing 120 miles a day all year round and after a few yrs I getting a bit tired of being soaked :D

    Thanks

+1 Great boot and this is a great price - think I paid €240-€260 last time I bought a pair in Cotters, although to be fair to Simon if you show him the online price he will often match it but I'm highly doubting he'd match this.

My pair of them is sitting beside me at work having been delivered at lunch, they're getting the first run out going home :D Some job!

Edit: Looked like a spastic trying to change gear lol, they'll need a bit of breaking in and I'll only use them for long trips but there's serious value had.

I have Held Goretex gloves and they are 100% waterproof. I'm sure if they have jackets the quality is just as good. Can be a bit pricey but it's worth paying the extra few quid if it means your hands stay dry.

I have Held goretex jacket and pants. I actually bought them on fcmoto.de around this time of year 4 years ago when the black Friday sales were on. They're 100% waterproof, comfortable and warm. Jacket was reduced to €280 and the pants were reduced to €200. I can't remember what the presale prices were but I do remember scrambling to buy them as soon as I saw them because the deals were so good.
I have a few different pieces from Held and imo it's the best brand for bike gear.

    Cheers guys,

Happy enough with my gloves for now, heated Gerbing, great for the cold mornings!

Will keep an eye on fcmoto.de and see if I can get a deal on Friday or Monday!

Great deals for black Friday at thevisorshop.com
Just bought a new helmet that was between €200-€300 dearer everywhere else I could see.
I also paid in sterling which made it a further €20 cheaper than paying in euro.

For the impending cold and wet weather:

Full set of waterproof gear for just over £300. From reviews, I'm led to believe these are fairly top quality.

open question on warmth of these sometimes they can be breathable adventure for warmer climes.

    orange.

Designed in-house and manufactured in Vietnam, the HQ Adventure jacket and pants are suitable for touring in mild climates where rain is a common occurrence. The outer shell is made of Sympatex Performance dual-layer material, which is abrasion-resistant, breathable and waterproof, and all seams and zippers are waterproo

    yep thought so.

Youd have to layer the ballax out of it underneath, still good value if its as waterproof as advertised

Any recommendations for a pair of gloves for the cold weather.

    Borderline frost bite this morning!

  • Registered Users Posts: 35,064 ✭✭✭✭Hotblack Desiato

Heated grips are the only real answer.

    Borderline frost bite this morning!

Heated Grips coupled with Wind Deflectors. Even then they keep the frostbite away. it wont make you super warm.

A heated Glove like the Keis ones would keep the outter of the hand warm too.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,935 ✭✭✭TallGlass

It's just the finger tips, I can deal with it up to a point then it just becomes distracting.

    Pretty warm otherwise!

Will check out suggestions mentioned. Thing is bike seemed to have heat grips previously and someone ripped them out

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,249 ✭✭✭Sonics2k

    Heated grips all the way.

Got a set put on my bike last Autumn just before the cold weather kicked in and they've been amazing. Never needed to put them above 60% or so and they keep my fingers nice and warm.

Honestly by the end of the drive to work or home I end up lowering the heat on them.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,033 ✭✭✭IrishGrimReaper

Make sure to get the hand guard things along with heated grips. Went from Galway to Dublin two weeks ago and throttle side ball end fell out(lol) leaving the hand guard flapping about all over the place. So I had to take off the hand guard, and by **** did I notice the difference; the sound bros at City Spares actually gave me a ball end and asked a small donation to a good cause instead.

    +1
Have both on the TDM and no bother spending an hour or more on the bike in the winter

For toasty warm hands, try heated grips with muffs... Might look pants, but they're not only warm, but you'll have dry gloves for the journey home. I did that b4 I got heated Keis gloves which are ok, but not quite as warm .

PS. I used the Chinese heated pads for a fiver, taped over the existing grips....again: function over form
