    Sorry Mods if this had already being answered, I had a look at previous posts but could not find it. My question is when The crashed EC 135 that was based in Athlone came back from Germany why did not go back on air ambulance duty. Did the air corps/HSE find the AW139 was better due to better range and capacity or was there another reason?

    Thats a good question which I reckon you've probably answered, i.e. the AW-139 is a better option for AA duties.

    In addition, perhaps they decided that having 2 x EC-135's available for training / general duties made more sense.
