Changing cover

Hi Folks, first post in this Forum.

Like everyone else I am shocked at the Renewal Premium I got today, it's gone from 500 to 730.

    Details
    Male, 60+ yrs
    Full Lisc.
    No Penalty Points
    Maximum NCB
plus Protected NCB, due to the time insured, and no claims
    Insurer AXA

My car is an 04 astra, and the Named drivers are myself and O/H plus open driving

My O/H has her own car, also insured with AXA, with me as named driver, plus open driving

So I need to reduce the price considerably

    My Thoughts

Drop to Fire + Theft only ( the value of the car is small )

Delete O/H as named driver, as she can drive my car on her own policy?? ( she has only driven my car once in the past year ).
Delete the Open driving cover, only other possible driver is Son who has his own car and cover.

Any other changes I can make to reduce cost??

Or am I wasting my efforts, and just suck it up.

    Thanks for any observations.

Have you tried other insurers before you go dropping options?

Not yet, only got the renewal this morning.

I will be doing that, although I would prefer to stay with AXA, as their service like breakdown cover is good

I think you've got to shop around OP. Get a better quote and see what Axa say then. Also see what they'd quote if you were a new customer.

    To update this thread

I rang AXA, and inquired if dropping some of the items covered for would reduce the cost

Straight away the quote reduced to 650.00, with no changes.

Still too dear, so after telling them I had cheaper quote, and furious clicking on the key-board, reduced again to 600, including the Credit Union disc. which I already had.

No change in cover, reduced from 730 - 600, stay tough lads
